Louisville Comeback Complete, Cardinals Down Nebraska 4-2 At 2026 CBS
Four runs across two innings propels Louisville to a 4-2 comeback win against Nebraska at the 2026 College Baseball Series in Arlington, Texas.

The Nebraska baseball team waited almost three decades for a shot at redemption against Louisville, and the Cardinals didn’t want any part of letting the Huskers have it Friday at the 2026 College Baseball Series in Arlington, Texas.
No. 15-ranked Louisville gave Nebraska hope by falling behind early, but three runs in the sixth inning, and an insurance home run in the seventh, propelled the Cardinals to a 4-2 victory at Globe Life Field.
The showdown was the second of the day’s three games, helping kick off the nine-game Amegy Bank College Baseball Series – Weekend 2, all of which is being broadcast live on FloCollege and the FloSports app.

The 2026 season marks the sixth consecutive year of college baseball at Globe Life Field and the third straight year the action at the College Baseball Series spans three weekends.
The schedule includes the Shriners Children’s College Showdown (Feb. 13-15), Amegy Bank College Baseball Series – Weekend 2 (Feb. 20-22) and Amegy Bank College Baseball Series presented – Weekend 3 (Feb. 27-March 1), all of which will bring 18 teams to Arlington.
The happy-hour tussle in the heart of Arlington’s Entertainment District was the first meeting between Nebraska and Louisville since 1998, and the Cornhuskers were looking to avenge a 4-2 loss that happened one week shy of 28 years ago.
Despite that loss, and the one Friday, Nebraska still leads the all-time series 4-3. The two teams met for the first time in 1995, playing four games, and they rekindled things three years later with a pair of games they split.
In this year’s contest the Huskers jumped out to a 2-0 lead with two-out runs in the third and fifth innings, but Louisville responded immediately, plating three runs in the sixth and an insurance run, via solo homer, in the seventh.
The sixth-inning rally for the Cardinals started with a double and a pitching change.
A walk by new Nebraska hurler Caleb Clark was followed by two hot shots up the middle, allowing Louisville to score its first run and then load the bases with no outs.
Clark fielded the first comebacker but threw the ball into center field, resulting in the first Louisville run. The next batter hit a grounder off Clark’s leg, and it ricocheted into right field.
Clark was able to record the first out before being replaced by junior right-hander Ryan Harrahill, who got the second out and then surrendered a two-out, two-run ground-rule double to sophomore outfielder Griffin Crain to give the Cardinals a 3-2 lead.
The following inning, Louisville sophomore Tague Davis belted a two-out solo home run to deep right field to put the game out of reach. It’s was the 20th homer of his career, with the first 18 coming last season.
Louisville finished the contest with four runs on eight hits, while leaving seven runners on base. Crain was the only Cardinal with more than one hit Friday. He was 2 for 2 with two RBIs.
The heaviest part of the pitching duties for Louisville went to starter Ethan Eberle, who went 5 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on seven hits, while walking four and strike out four.
Eberle did not get the decision, however. That went to the second of Louisville’s three pitchers, sophomore right-hander Jack Brown, who tossed 2 1/3 innings for the Cardinals. Sophomore southpaw Aaron England pitched the ninth inning and picked up the save.
Nebraska also had eight hits, but the Huskers left 10 runners on base to fall short.
Senior shortstop Dylan Carey had three of the Nebraska hits as part of a 3-for-4 day, including a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning.
Junior right-hander Ty Horn started the contest for the Huskers, but he also did not get a decision Friday. He pitched five innings, giving up five hits and one run, while striking out five and walking two.
Though Clark only pitched a third of an inning, he took the loss.
Nebraska and Louisville both are familiar with GLF and the College Baseball Series.
The Cardinals opened their 2025 campaign at the Shriners Children’s College Showdown, going 2-1 against three top-15 teams, and this is their third appearance at the CBS in four years.
The Huskers started their 2024 season in Arlington and posted a 1-2 record.
This year, Louisville rolled into Globe Life Field, home of the 2023 World Series-winning Texas Rangers, at 2-2 on the season, which included a pair of losses to start the year, followed by wins over Michigan State and Xavier.
The home victory against Xavier on Tuesday saw the Cardinals explode for 23 hits and 23 runs in a 23-11 offensive onslaught.
Now 3-2, Louisville will prepare to face Michigan on Saturday at noon Eastern.
The Wolverines (3-2) were on the losing end of a 6-1 battle with No. 16 Florida State earlier Friday.
Nebraska started the season at the MLB Desert Invitational in Arizona and flew out of the gate with three wins, before dropping an 11-6 contest to Stanford on Monday. It was the first time since 2005 the Huskers were 3-0 to start a campaign.
Also 3-2, Nebraska will look to end its losing skid in Saturday’s Amegy Bank College Baseball Series – Weekend 2 nightcap against Kansas State, which is facing No. 9 Auburn in the final game of Friday’s action at Globe Life Field.

Louisville Baseball Defeats Nebraska 4-2 At College Baseball Series
The Cardinals comeback is complete. Louisville defeats Nebraska 4-2 at Globe Life Field.
New Pitcher Comes On To Close Things Out For Louisville Baseball
Sophomore left-hander Aaron England comes in to pitch for Louisville in the top of the ninth inning.
He gets two quick outs, including a four-pitch strikeout.
England strikes out Sanderson to end the game.
Louisville wins 4-2.
Louisville Defense Does It Again In Eighth Inning Against Nebraska, Cardinals On Top 4-2
Brown hits a batter to start the top of the eighth inning, and he is erased with a 6-4-3 double play. It's the third DP of the game for the Cardinals.
Cornhuskers are down to their final four outs.
Inning ends with another grounder to short.
Louisville 4, Nebraska 2
Cardinals Add Insurance Run Against Nebraska, Louisville Ahead 4-2 At GLF
After two groundouts to second base, Louisville sophomore Tague Davis belts a two-out solo home run to deep right field. It's the 20th homer of his career. He had 18 last season.

Creative Defense For Louisville Holds Nebraska At Bay, Cardinals Lead 3-2
Case Sanderson walks to start the top of the seventh for Nebraska.
Some clever mannerisms from Crain on a fly ball to left field prove tricky for Sanderson, who doesn't know if he should run or stay, and a couple of great throws double him off at first.
Carey delivers a two-out double, his third two-out hit of the day, and the misstep ends up costly for the Huskers.
Brown fans Cole Kitchens to end the inning.
Louisville 3, Nebraska 2
Louisville Gets On The Board Against Nebraska Baseball, Cardinals Up 3-2 After Six
Clark starts with a walk to give Louisville runners on first and second with no outs.
On a comebacker up the middle, Clark sails the ball into center field, allowing Elam to score on the error. Nebraska 2, Louisville 1.
The next batter also hits one up the middle, and it hits Clark on the leg, ricocheting into right field to load the bases. Still with no outs.
After four batters, Clark leaves the game. Junior right-hander Ryan Harrahill comes in for the Huskers with one out and the bases loaded.
Harrahill gives up a looooong fly ball that would've been out in most parts of Globe Life Field, but it bounces just inside the 374-foot mark in right center.
However, it's a two-run ground-rule double for Crain to make it a 3-2 Louisville lead.
A grounder to short ends the inning.
After six full innings, it's Louisville 3, Nebraska 2.
The Cardinals get on the board 👏

Nebraska Makes Pitching Change After Leadoff Louisville Double In Bottom Of The Sixth Inning
Freshman Kade Elam hits a fastball away to right center for a leadoff double, the first extra-base hit of the game for the Cardinals.
That leads to the end of the day for Horn. He is replaced by senior southpaw Caleb Clark with one on and no outs in the bottom of the sixth.
Cornhuskers Strand Two Runners, Maintain 2-0 Lead Over Louisville
An error at first base (off the bag) gives Nebraska a runner on first with two outs.
Worthley then steals second base.
Eberle walks Moyer after being ahead 0-2.
That gives Nebraska runners on first and second with two outs, and it also marks the end for Eberle. He departs after 5 2/3 innings.
Sophomore right-hander Jack Brown comes on for Louisville. He gets a fly ball to end the inning.
Nebraska 2, Louisville 0
Overturned Call Gives Louisville New Life Against Nebraska Baseball
After a strikeout and a walk, Nebraska puts a quick end to the inning with a 4-6-3 double play.
But wait, there's more....
The umps review the call at first base, and it's overturned.
Instead of Nebraska coming up for the top of the sixth inning, Louisville gets new life with two outs and a runner on first.
A pitch later, the inning ends for real with a fly ball to left field.
Horn has gone five innings, struck out five, walked two and given up four hits while holding Louisville scoreless.
Nebraska 2, Louisville 0 after five innings.
Nebraska Baseball Adds To Lead Over Louisville With Two-Out Home Run, Huskers Up 2-0
Eberle starts the top of the fifth inning with two strikeouts.
Senior infielder Dylan Carey refuses to be the third, and he hits an opposite-field home run just over the fence in right field. It's his 21st career dinger and second in 2026.
Nebraska leads 2-0.
Eberle responds with another strikeout, his fourth of the day, but the damage is done.

Louisville Strands Two, Trails Nebraska 1-0 After Four Innings At Globe Life Field
The Cardinals attempt their own two-out rally.
Jax Hisle singles. Nugent walks. Runners on first and second with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Inning ends with a strikeout. A 93mph fastball from Horn freezes Slanker to end the inning.

Unfortunate Luck Ends Nebraska Threat, Huskers Lead Louisville Baseball 1-0 In Arlington
A base hit and a sac bunt gives Nebraska a runner on second with the top of the order coming up.
Moyer grounds out and moves Max Buettenback to third base.
A questionable two-out grounder leaves the teams and fans perplexed. Jett Buck didn't run to first base because it appeared to hit his shoe. It was not ruled that way, so a quick toss to first ended the inning and stranded the runner on third.
(The replay may have shown otherwise, but that doesn't always help or change things).
Inning over. Nebraska 1, Louisville 0
Call Overturned, Louisville Held Scoreless In Third Inning Against Nebraska Baseball
A steal attempt by sophomore outfielder Griffin Crain, who singled to start the inning for Louisville, is reviewed and overturned. He's now OUT.
Bases now empty with two outs. Can the Cardinals rally now?
(That's a negative).
The third inning ends with a fly ball to center field.
After three full innings, it's Nebraska 1, Louisville 0
Three Consecutive Hits Give Nebraska 1-0 Lead Over Louisville Baseball At CBS In Texas
Eberle records his first strikeout, but Nebraska rallies with back-to-back-back two-out singles, the third of which scored senior Joshua Overbeek.
That puts Nebraska ahead 1-0 with runners on first and third and two outs.
A fielder's choice on a hard-hit ball to shortstop ends the inning with the force at second.

Defense Shining For Both Teams In Nebraska-Louisville Showdown In Texas - Score 0-0 After Two Full Innings
Jimmy Nugent is hit by a pitch to start the bottom of the second inning for Louisville.
A rushed throw on a sure double play results in the ball getting away.
On the next play, a line drive to second secures the second out, and Ben Slanker is unable to get back to first base. The redemption double play ends the inning.
After two full innings, it's Nebraska 0, Louisville 0
Defensive GEM Helps Louisville Out Of Trouble With Inning Ending Double Play, Contest With Nebraska Still Scoreless
A miscue on a shallow fly ball is ruled a hit and is scored as a one-out double for the speedy junior outfielder Will Jesske.
The bottom part of the order sparks some momentum.
A walk gives the Huskers runners on first and second base with one out.
Eberle walks Jeter Worthley on four pitches to load the bases, still with one out. The Cardinals try to chance the pace and make a trip to the mound to settle down their starter.
Back to the top of the order, Moyer hits a HOT shot the other way to third base, but Bayram Hot is able to snag it, step on the bag for the force out and fire to first to complete the inning-ending double play.
Eberle escapes again!

Jett Buck follows with a single to left field, giving the Huskers runners on first and third with no outs.
Junior right-hander Ty Horn will be on the hill for the Cornhuskers.

About Nebraska Baseball
Nebraska finished the 2025 college baseball season with a 33-29 overall record and 15-15 performance in Big Ten action, which landed the Huskers right in the middle of the 16-team conference standings.
The Huskers did get to play in the Big Ten Baseball Tournament Presented by IFS.ai, and it gave them a sneak peek of the iconic Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, home of the Men’s College World Series each year.
Nebraska rose to the occasion as the No. 8 seed, going 2-0 in pool play to earn a spot in the semifinals. The Huskers then defeated Penn State 6-3 and UCLA 5-0 nothing to take the title and become the first team since Indiana in 2014 to repeat as the tournament champion.
With the victory, came the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, leading a group of four Big Ten programs to make the 64-team bracket (Nebraska, Oregon, UCLA and USC).
That’s where the momentum for Nebraska stopped, however, as the Huskers did not make it out of the Chapel Hill Regional in North Carolina, losing to Oklahoma twice, with a win over Holy Cross in between.
The new campaign started well for Nebraska, and the squad will arrive in Texas with a 3-1 record. However, the Huskers are coming off an 11-6 loss to Stanford on Monday.
Nebraska now will look to improve on its 1-2 performance at the Shriners Children’s College Showdown in 2024, which featured a win over Baylor and losses to Texas Tech and Oklahoma.

About Louisville Baseball
Louisville is coming off a 42-24 campaign that included a 15-15 mark and middle-of-the-pack finish ACC play, before the 10th-seeded Cardinals were bounced from the opening round of the ACC Baseball Championship by Pitt.
The Cardinals used the disappointment as a springboard after earning one of the ACC’s nine berths in the 2025 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship.
They rolled through the Nashville Regional and defeated Miami 2-1 to win the Louisville Super Regional and advance to the Men’s College World Series for the first time since 2019 and sixth time overall. It was the 19th consecutive tournament with an ACC team playing in the MCWS
Louisville went 2-2 at Charles Schwab Field and lost to eventual national runner-up Coastal Carolina 11-3 in the semifinals. Coastal Carolina then lost to LSU 2-0 in the best-of-three championship series.
Consecutive losses to Michigan State to start the 2026 season for Louisville were followed by a redemption win against the Spartans and a high-scoring victory over Xavier.
In the 23-11 win against Xavier on Tuesday, nine of Cardinals’ 23 hits went for extra bases, eight players recorded multiple hits, led by Alex Alicea and Tague Davis with four apiece, all nine starters scored at least one run and eight drove in multiple runs.
Louisville now is back at Globe Life Field for the third time in four years.
Last year, the Cardinals were 2-1 at the Shriners Children’s College Showdown with wins over No. 7 Texas and No. 12 Arizona and a loss to No.13 Oklahoma State.
Their 2023 visit to Arlington came a few games into the season, and the Cardinals were 3-0, defeating No. 12 Texas A&M, No. 10 TCU and Michigan.
