Despite having two losses in the first three weeks of the season, UCLA Baseball has left no doubt that the Bruins are worthy of their preseason No. 1 ranking and are the best team in the country.

After going 3-0 against No. 20 Tennessee, No. 23 Texas A&M and No. 4 Mississippi State a week after sweeping then-No. 7 TCU, UCLA remained No. 1 in both major college baseball polls.

The Bruins did lose their Tuesday game to San Diego State last week to drop to 6-2, but then throttled now-No. 19 Tennessee and then-No. 22 Texas A&M before outlasting No. 4 Mississippi State in 10 innings on Sunday at the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series Weekend 3 showcase.

Hot on UCLA’s heels are the LSU Tigers (11-1) as conference play for Division I college baseball is just days away for some leagues. The ACC will launch its season this week, while the SEC starts on March 13.
