Read the game recap of UCLA vs Mississippi State baseball at the 2026 College Baseball Series at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Two college baseball titans collided in one of the best games of the 2026 season—No. 1 UCLA baseball played No. 4 Mississippi State to determine who would leave the gauntlet of a weekend without a loss.
UCLA came out on top in extra innings with a late surge for the lead after trailing since the 4th inning.
The College Baseball Series is not for the faint-hearted, and the Bruins and Bulldogs both proved that throughout each of their three games.
The Bruins (8-2) handed Texas A&M their first loss of the season and had the chance to make it a one-two punch and hand the Bulldogs (11-0) their first L. They did so and made it a sixth ranked win in 2026.

Well, one way for the new Bulldogs' pitcher to deal with Will Gasparino's hot streak is to hit him with a pitch... and so he did on the second pitch.
Ben Davis stepped in to relieve in the top of the seventh.
Cadiz skied one out to the third base foul territory for the first out.
Back to the top of the batting order for UCLA with a runner on first.
West ripped one sharply to third for a fielder's choice to second where Frei tried to toss it over to first. West was way too quick for the double play.
Cholowsky was hit up in the shoulder after three fouls and a ball to put a second runner on. Davis has been spending a lot of attention on keeping West held back to the bag rather than worrying about the batter at the plate.
Levu hit it hard, bouncing through the turf to Frei who made a short throw to first to close out the top of the seventh and send us to the stretch with two runners on.

Noah Sullivan stepped up first. He hit a grounder out to Martin who made the play to first for an out.
Stallman, no doubt one of the scariest batters in Globe Life Field this weekend, was walked with four pitches by Randall. The go-ahead run on base for Mississippi State after the big three-run inning in the 4th.
UCLA will make the change at the mound for the third time today, bringing out Wylan Moss. 6.2 IP, 12K, 0.00 ERA.

Brennan was able to steal second with a huge jump on the fresh pitcher.
Aguayo walked on four straight balls and it brought out a meeting at the mound.
Cashel Dugger hit a flier out that dropped into Bryce Chance's hands for the final out.

Teel struck out swinging on the full count before Reese hit a fly ball out to left center field where Will Gasparino was ready to make the catch.

Cashel Dugger up to bat, he's been having a fantastic weekend in Arlington. Stone would like to keep his contributions limited on offense, if he can, though.
On the full count pitch, Stone threw it high and inside and found the catcher's elbow. Dugger didn't look too happy after taking it.
Gasparino defended the plate in one of the best battles so far today. It was the 2-2 pitch that Gasparino blasted to left field for his tenth home run of the 2026 season. This kid is something else.
Dominic Cadiz singled it out to center field on the third pitch after two balls and a foul.
Stone clipped Dean West on the elbow as well, making it another walk for two runners on base and still no outs.
Cholowsky up, he looked hesitant swinging at the delivery. He popped it out to center, Aidan Teel, who threw it in to Woodson as he made the tag on Cadiz at second.
A bit of disagreement came in from the crowd with regard to whether Woodson was in the path of the base runner or not.
Levu strikes out swinging in three pitches to save Stone's inning after the two-run homer by Gasparino and two batters hit in the third.

He smacked it past mid-center field where Teel had to run back to make the catch. One out.
Martin got a free stolen base when Stone tried to pick him off at first and it went wide, bouncing towards the dugout.
He got greedy, though, trying to steal third. This time, Stone stepped off and threw it straight to Reese at third for another out.

Gasparino made the catch on a long fly ball sent to the warning track by Ace Reese who thought he had hit first home run of the day.
Teel went for the steal with Sullivan at bat. Dugger threw it down and it was there by a mile to get the second out.
