While the UCLA-Mississippi State top-5 showdown Sunday at the 2026 College Baseball Series was every bit the showstopper baseball fans had hoped for, it was Arizona State and Texas A&M with the honor of putting the finishing touches on another unforgettable run of the College Baseball Series

The start of the finale at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, was delayed when it took UCLA 10 innings to cap an 8-7 win over the Bulldogs, but Texas A&M didn’t waste any time getting down to business once it was time to play.

The Aggies scored five runs in the first two innings and cruised to a 9-3 win over the Sun Devils.

The victory was the second of the 2026 Amegy Bank College Baseball Series – Weekend 3 for TAMU and a little bit of redemption after the team suffered the first loss of its season Saturday night against top-ranked UCLA.

This week’s action marked the last of three weekends of play that brought 18 Division I programs to Arlington’s Entertainment District for almost 30 games, all of which unfolded live on FloCollege and the FloSports app.

With wins against No. 20 Tennessee, No. 23 Texas A&M and No. 4 Mississippi State, UCLA leaves Texas as the weekend’s biggest winner and having proven why the Bruins should remain atop the polls.

And, as Globe Life Field is returned the 2023 World Series-winning Texas Rangers for the start of their own 2026 season, all of the collegiate programs will take what they learned into the heart of the season and the all-important conference games ahead.

Texas A&M opened its time at the 2026 Amegy Bank College Baseball Series – Weekend 3 by blowing out Virginia Tech 10-0 in the first meeting in history between the two programs.

The win Friday gave the Aggies a 9-0 start to the season and showed they could win on the road, as their first eight games were played at home.

On Saturday, the fortunes were reversed, and the first loss of the year for TAMU was a lopsided 11-1 contest with UCLA.

The redemption game Sunday against Arizona State featured a 6-2 lead after three innings, while the overall performance included nine hits – with two each from Nico Partida and Blake Binderup – great defense and solid pitching.

Junior right-hander Clayton Freshcorn pitched the final two innings for the Aggies and picked up the win to improve 2-0 in 2026. He was the third hurler of the night for Texas A&M, which got 4 2/3 innings from starter Aiden Sims and 2 1/3 innings from Ethan Darden.

The Aggies go to 10-1 on the season and 5-1 in their last two visits to Arlington.

The last time the Texas A&M played at Globe Life Field was in 2024, posting a 3-0 record with two wins over Arizona State and a triumph over USC.

That same season, the Aggies went on to finish as the runners-up to Tennessee at the 2024 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship.

Up next for Texas A&M is a home meeting Tuesday with the University of the Incarnate Word to kick off a five-game homestand.

Arizona State arrived in Arlington at 8-1 after starting the season with eight consecutive wins, but the Sun Devils are leaving Texas at 8-4 and on a four-game losing streak.

They lost to Oklahoma on Wednesday and then dropped CBS games with Mississippi State (8-4) and Tennessee (5-3), before falling to Texas A&M in the finale.

Against the Aggies on Sunday, ASU got three runs on six hits, while leaving eight runners on base. No ASU batter had more than one hit in the loss.

The Sun Devils tied the game at 2-2 with a two-run blast to left field from redshirt junior Garrett Michel in the top of the second inning and plated one more with a solo home run from junior infielder Dominic Longo in the sixth inning.

On the other side of things, Arizona State sent six pitchers to the mound, with starter Jaden Alba, a junior right-hander, taking the loss. He pitched three innings, giving up six runs on four hits, while walking two and striking out one. He also hit three batters and had two wild pitches.

Up next for ASU is an eight-game homestand that begins Friday with a three-game weekend series against Loyola Marymount.

The 2026 season marked the sixth consecutive year of college baseball at Globe Life Field and the third straight year the action spanned three weekends.

The schedule included the Shriners Children’s College Showdown (Feb. 13-15), Amegy Bank College Baseball Series – Weekend 2 (Feb. 20-22) and Amegy Bank College Baseball Series – Weekend 3 (Feb. 27-March 1).

Among the teams playing this week are more than 30 MLB prospects who have first-round draft potential over the next two years, including UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky, who is considered the No. 1 prospect in the draft and is unanimously viewed as the top pick in 2026.

About Arizona State Baseball

Last season, Arizona State was 36-24 overall and 18-12 in Big 12 games.

The Sun Devils finished tied for fourth place last year in their debut season in the Big 12. ASU was one of four teams from the Pac-12 Conference to make the move to the Big 12.

When the 2025 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship came around in May, also played at Globe Life Field, Arizona State bowed out early, losing to the No. 12 seed, BYU, in the opening round. Fellow newcomer Arizona defeated TCU for the title.

The season didn’t end there for the Sun Devils, however, as they were selected to play in the 64-team NCAA Division I Baseball Championship. They won their opening game at the Los Regional, defeating UC Irvine, but then lost consecutive contests to UCLA and UC Irvine to earn an early trip home.

Expectations for ASU in 2026 are high again, as the Sun Devils landed at No. 4 among the 14 teams on the 2026 Big 12 Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll.

About Texas A&M Baseball

The last time the Texas A&M played at Globe Life Field was in 2024, posting a 3-0 record with two wins over Arizona State and a triumph over USC.

That same season, the Aggies went on to finish as the runners-up to Tennessee at the 2024 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship.

Prior to that, they made it to Omaha in 2022, so if you’re superstitious, does that mean Texas A&M is a lock for 2026?

The Aggies are coming off a 30-26 campaign that included an 11-19 mark in SEC competition and saw them finish third from the bottom of the conference standings.

They earned the No. 14 seed for the 2025 SEC Baseball Tournament and won two games, before being dispensed by eventual national champion LSU.

Texas A&M is in a tough spot. Is it better to be a middle-of-the-road team in the most powerful conference in college baseball, the one that has claimed every national title since 2019, or a top team in a lesser conference?

Amazingly, 11 of the 16 teams in the SEC started this season ranked in the top 25.
