Must-See Baseball Jersey Round-Up May 21: Florence Y'Alls Meet Spongebob

Independent baseball is here, with the Pioneer League's May 21 Opening Day ushering in the start of the third league airing all season on FloBaseball.

With the arrival of another baseball campaign comes one of the most fun aspects to the game: The creative alternative and theme uniforms worn all summer. We'll check in with the coming week's offering all season here at FloBaseball.

Evansville Otters

Memorial Day Weekend is on the horizon, and with it comes one of America's premier sports tradition: The Indianapolis 500.

America's Pastime embraced this great American race, courtsey of the Frontier League's Evansville Otters. The Otters started the engines for the 500 early with checkered-flag jerseys.

How To Get Them

Bids for the Evansville Otters' Indy 500 jerseys closed, but the club is hosting plenty more theme-jersey auctions this season — including, at campaign's end, taking bids for the special-edition Thursday night duds.

This Thursday we will be wearing our Beerseys! They will be worn every Thursday home game and be auctioned off the last Thursday regular season home game.

Florence Y'Alls

When Evansville visits on May 24, the Florence Y'Alls will be wearing uniforms inspired by "Imagination!"

The Y'Alls' Spongebob Squarepants jerseys are some of the most unique alternate threads seen anywhere in baseball this season.

How To Get Them

You may have to scheme like you're Plankton in order to get your hands on the Spongebob jersey, at least initially. However, the Florence Y'Alls' team store features a variety of past alternates, including their Hockey Night and Captain American looks worn in recent years.

Gastonia Baseball Club

Speaking of Captain America, among the superhero's adventures is the popular animated series, "What If..."

The Gastonia Baseball Club is bringing the same concept to the diamond this season with special "What If" nights, wearing uniforms inspired by hypothetical nicknames. The Club debuted the first in the series on May 18, hosting Lexington in an Atlantic League matchup as the time-traveling "Gastronauts."

Yolo High Wheelers

Another form of what if in independent baseball this week is answered when the Pioneer League's Yolo High Wheelers reveal what happens if Davis, California, hosts a baseball team.

The city in the northern part of the Golden State makes its debut on Pioneer League opening night. The High Wheelers will sport their traditional home jerseys, but what's more special edition than a historic first time?
