Bottom 9th | Tennessee Baseball At Bat

UCLA 12, TENN 5

Although Tennessee is known for their high-offense baseball, they'll have to reach deeper inside than ever to pull off more than seven runs against the UCLA defense with just three outs to do it.

The Vols started the inning at the top of their order, with Abernathy taking his fourth at-bat of the game (0-3). The sophomore struck out swinging on a breaking ball as Hawk tallied his third straight.

Hawk's streak ended on Ford, though, who was walked on five pitches.

Aguayo mishandled a ball that bounced in from Levi Clark's bat. Ford made it to second on the bobble.

Reese Chapman struck out swinging at a low slider for the second out.

Brown hit the first pitch popped up to right field where Brennan made the catch and UCLA secured the win in their first of three games at the College Baseball Series.

UCLA 12, TENN 5

Abraham returned to pitch in the 9th inning.

On the full count, Aguayo drew a lead-off walk on eight pitches to start the 9th.

Dugger hit a grounder into a 4-6-3 double play by the Vols infield to clear the bases.

Abraham's first pitch on Gasparino went behind the home-run hitter. The second pitch he took he liked much better, putting the bat on the ball for a 427-foot home run that bounced off the second deck of seats in left center field. Gasparino now sits at 9 HRs in just as many games.

Aidan Espinoza connected for a single up the middle to keep the two-out hits flying.

West's hit drilled out to right field where Chapman was waiting for it to drop to make the third out.

Bottom 8th | Tennessee Baseball At Bat

UCLA 11, TENN 5

Elai Iwanaga takes the mound as UCLA's fifth pitcher of the game as they look to close things out against Tennessee.

He locked in the first K of the inning against Reese Chapman swinging and missing on a beautiful breaking ball that started in the strike zone but dropped off a table.

Brown was hit in the shoe on a wild pitch to put him on second. He advanced to second on another wild pitch with Tyler Myatt up to bat. Myatt walked to put runners on first and second.

Iwanaga is struggling out there, putting pitches in the dirt and drawing a sixth change from the bullpen. Easton Hawk will step in. 6.75 ERA, 0-1, 4K/2 BB.

Lawless was Hawk's first batter. He walked the Vols catcher to load the bases.

Marin went chasing with two strikes and a ball on the count but he missed big to give Hawk the K.

Newstrom went down swinging on four pitches after Hawk seemed to find a rhythm to bring this game to the 9th inning. Left three runners on.

Top 8th | UCLA Baseball At Bat

UCLA 11, TENN 5

Tennessee makes another switch at the mound, this time bringing out Nic Abraham, their fifth pitcher. In 4 IP he has put away 2 strikouts with 3 hits.

West hit connected on the first pitch, launching the ball deep to center field where Abernathy made the catch.

Cholowsky was hit on the next pitch to put a runner on with one out.

Abraham hit Levu as well to put another runner on and the Vols pitching woes continued.

Martin was walked next with four balls in a row far outside, just one strike made it into the zone. Bases loaded with one out.

There was an automatic double play called when Martin didn't slide into second to bring the Bruins out onto the field.

Bottom 7th | Tennessee Baseball At Bat

UCLA 11, TENN 5

We'll see if Tennessee can bring back their offense.

Jack O'Connor is now on the mound for UCLA, continuing the pitcher merry-go-round, replacing Jake Swenson.

Newstrom had the chance to set the tone early and he did with a triple bouncing off the back wall. Gasparino missed the initial grab but brought it in as Newstrom slid into third.

Newstrom ran it in after Ford hit a grounder to Cholowsky who had to make the play to first.

Clark hit a flier out to right field to end the inning.

Top 7th | UCLA Baseball At Bat

UCLA 11, TENN 4

It's all Tennessee after a wild inning for the Vols at-bat. What was a fairly clean start for the Bruins pitching game quickly devolved. Reddemann opened up the opportunities and Ian May wasn't able to stop the bleed.

Kuhns returns to the mound to see if he can keep building on his 10 Ks now that the Vols offense has matched the no. 1 team.

Unfortunately for him, Gasparino tallied his 7th home run through right center to and it resulted in the end of Kuhns' game.

Brandon Arvidson rotates in—a redshirt junior with 5 strikeouts in just 2.1 IP against Kent State earlier this season.

Cadiz hit a bomb out to left field but Myatt was there to make the catch at the wall.

Not a great start for Arvidson at the top of the Bruins order, sending West to first after hitting him in the back with a pitch.

Cholowsky hit a fly ball out to center field where Abernathy was able to make the catch after a short jog.

As West took off on the pitch, Levu dropped a lob behind the third baseman to keep West on the move and send him to third. Levu made it to first.

Roman Martin hit a three-run blast out to left field to re-open the lead for UCLA with two outs on the board. 9-4 UCLA. Tyler Myatt leapt to make the catch but was just short.

Tennessee pulls Arvidson out and sends Sawyer Deering (0.00 ERA, 1 IP, 1K, 1BB) to the mound.

Brennan drew a pitch in the elbow, sending him to first. Stone Lawless didn't like it as he threw the ball down to first after a pitch on Aguayo to force Brennan quickly back to the bag.

Brennan advanced to second with Aguayo going to first on a free ticket. He tucked his head as a 3-1 pitch flew by his face. Vols go back to the bullpen to bring out their fourth pitcher: Taylor Tracey.

On the first pitch, Dugger hit a two-run double that was exacerbated by an error by Abernathy getting the ball in to home plate.

Things keep going wrong for the Vols as Gasparino is walked, putting two runners on with the same two outs they've had since Kuhns was on the mound.

The last out finally came from Dominic Cadiz hitting a grounder up the middle which Marin grabbed and threw to first. Six runs added for UCLA.

Bottom 6th | Tennessee Baseball At Bat

UCLA 5, TENN 4

Newstrom led things off after his flashy attempt in the last inning and kept that theme rolling. He was able to convert this time, with a home run deep to left field to put the Vols on the board.

Abernathy went up for his third trip, 0-2 so far. He was walked on the full count pitch as Reddemann's fatigue has started to poke through.

They had a short meeting at his mound, but he kept the spot.

Henry Ford was next up to bat, singling a line drive out to right field to advance Abernathy.

Clark hit high flier out to left field where West was there to make the catch.

UCLA pulls Reddemann off the mound and bring out Ian May.

May is a left-handed redshirt senior out of Laguna Niguel, CA. He helped the Bruins to two of their wins over TCU and went 1-1 against UC San Diego. 2.08 ERA, 8.2 IP, 12 K, 2 BB.

Reddemann leaves with 5.1 IP, 7Ks and 4 hits with just 1 base on balls.

Reese Chapman was the first batter to face May for the Vols.

After two strikes to open his game, May threw four balls in a row and sent Chapman walking.

Brown's at-bat was the opposite. He was left watching the third strike, a slider, fly by outside the zone but it was called a strike and May tallied his first K.

Myatt hit a single up the middle past Marin over second base to bring in two runs for Tennessee. Abernathy and Ford score leaving runners on first and second.

When it rains, it pours. Lawless hit a line drive through the left side to bring Chapman home and close the deficit to just one as Tennessee grabs hold of the momentum with just one out remaining. Runners remain on first and second.

Ian May's game comes to and end just as quickly as it started. UCLA resorts to the bullpen once again and you can hear Rocky Top echoing through Globe Life.

This marathon of an inning continues and UCLA goes to Jake Swenson on the mound to help pull this thing back into control.

Manny Marin hit a fly ball out to center field on the 2-1 count and Gasparino was there to make the catch to end the inning.

Top 6th | UCLA Baseball At Bat

UCLA 5, TENN 0

We are cruising right along. Bruins return to bat and Kuhns is within range of double digit strikeouts. Vols will have to make quick work if they want to stay in this one.

Martin hit a grounder out to SS, Marin made the play for the first out.

Kuhns' 10th strikeout came at Payton Brennan's dismay, who was left staring.

Aguayo hit a single up the middle. Newstrom was able to grab it and in a spinning throw, he made a bad throw to first that pulled Clark off the bag.

Dugger hit a flyball to left field where it was caught in a sliding play by Tyler Myatt to flip the field.

Bottom 5th | Tennessee Baseball At Bat

UCLA 5, TENN 0

Tyler Myatt struck out swinging to start the Vols 5th trip to the plate.

With the full count, Lawless hit a grounder out to second base, Aguayo, who had no trouble making the play.

Levu, who was shifted to the left into the 2B spot, he made the play on a grounder delivered by Marin. Reddemann did his job and covered the bag to receive the toss.

Top 5th | UCLA Baseball At Bat

UCLA 5, TENN 0

Kuhns hits 60 on the pitch counter to open the fifth inning.

Clark missed the throw to first by Ford, who collected a high bouncing grounder by Cadiz.

West hit the sacrifice bunt to move Cadiz over to second.

Kuhns threw a wild pitch that bounced out away from Lawless. Cadiz was able to get to third.

With just one out, Cholowsky hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring in Cadiz.

Levu struck out swinging and Kuhns tallied his 9th K.

Bottom 4th | Tennessee Baseball At Bat

UCLA 4, TENN 0

Reddemann has only given up two hits today, two one-out singles.

Clark struck out with a check swing, Dugger made the tag after the 7th pitch of the at-bat.

Back-to-back stikeouts for Reddemann as Chapman follows with his own miss. Just four pitches this time.

Brown hit a grounder to second base for the final out.

Top 4th | UCLA Baseball At Bat

UCLA 4, TENN 0

UCLA is making it look easy, now.

Payton Brennan was up to bat to start and he hit a 435 footer out to left field for a home run and the 4-0 lead.

Aguayo struck out swinging to give Kuhns his seventh of the day.

Dugger lined out to first base.

Gasparino fouled off the first two from Kuhns but beat him swinging on the third to end it. 8 Ks.

Bottom 3rd | Tennessee Baseball At Bat

UCLA 3, TENN 0

Reddemann back on the mound to protect the lead.

Shortstop Manny Marin hit a high foul ball up the first base line where Levu made the catch.

Newstrom hit it up the middle for a single on the first delivery from Reddemann and the Vols restart their batting order.

Abernathy struck out swinging, getting beat by a 95+ mph four-seam fastball down the middle.

Henry hit it near Reddemann who reached out to make the catch. The ball bounced out but he was able to make the play at first to end the inning.

Top 3rd | UCLA Baseball At Bat

UCLA 3, TENN 0

Kuhns is cruising at this point. Dominic Cadiz was no trouble for him with three pitches and three strikes, swinging on the breaking ball to end his trip. Make it five for Kuhns.

Bruins are back at the top of their batting order. Kuhns struck out West swinging with another 95 mph fast ball.

Cholowski's second at bat broke the pitcher's streak, hitting a low pitch hard out past third base down the line for an easy double.

Levu watched the first strike go. On the next, though, he bombed it out past right field for a two-run homer that brought in Cholowsky.

Martin made great contact as well on the next at-bat, hitting a high flier out to the warning track where Jay Abernathy made the catch.

Three run lead for the Bruins.

Bottom 2nd | Tennessee Baseball At Bat

UCLA 1, TENN 0

Reddemann returns to his spot on the mound.

Reese grounded out to third.

Blaine Brown hit a single up the middle through the middle, just to the right of second base. Gasparino collected it.

Reddemann struck out Myatt swinging with a low changeup, his second strikeout. Two down.

Stone Lawless struck out swinging and Reddemann closed out the inning.

Top 2nd | UCLA Baseball At Bat

UCLA 1, TENN 0

UCLA gets back on offense unscathed, aside from having to throw so many pitches.

Roman Martin hit a ground ball out to shortstop for the first out, an impressive defensive play from Mann Marin.

Brennan was Kuhns' next target, who he struck out in four pitches.

On Aguayo's first at-bat, we had our first review of the game. Clark made the catch to beat the runner by timing but his foot's location was up for debate.

It was initially called safe due to his foot coming off the bag—the call stood.

Cashel Dugger earned the first hit of the day with a cannon up left centerfield that bounced all the way to the warning track.

He hit a double and brought in Aiden Aguayo for the Bruins' lead.

Will Gasparino took the plate but struck out swinging for another Kuhns' K.

Bottom 1st | Tennessee Baseball At Bat

UCLA 0, TENN 0

A great opening for the Volunteers. Abernathy, Ford, Clark lead the order as they try to spin up their offense against Logan Reddemann.

Abernathy fouled off five from Reddemann who showed nearly all of his toolchest. On the final 2-2 pitch, Reddemann went with the high 95 mph fastball to secure his first strikeout of the afternoon.

Ford found himself in similar position, defending the plate rigorously. On the full count, he hit a grounder out to Cholowski at shortstop who easily made the play.

Levi Clark hit a fly ball out to centerfield to close out the first inning.

Reddemann threw nearly 20 pitches in just three batters, including 12 fouls.

Kuhns takes the mound and we are kicked off in Arlington!

Dean West heads to the plate and showed bunt but pulled up on the first strike delivered. Fouled the second pitch.

Three strikes in a row and West goes down looking with Kuhns' first K.

Roch Cholowski took the plate for his first at-bat of the College Baseball Series weekend. Low ball to start. The next went down the middle and Cholowski popped up into foul territory towards third. Henry Ford tracked it out towards the edge and made the catch.

With the 1-2 count, Levu struck out swinging as Kuhns tallied his second K.
