Mississippi State Baseball Powered By Ryan McPherson In Win Over ASU
MS State sophomore Ryan McPherson was perfect three innings and sensational the rest of way in an 8-4 win over Arizona State Baseball.

Ryan McPherson delivered another strong outing as No. 4 Mississippi State improved to 10-0 with an 8-4 victory over Arizona State.
The sophomore right-hander worked seven innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out five. He kept the Sun Devils hitless through four innings and consistently worked out of trouble, handing the bullpen a comfortable lead.

Mississippi State broke the game open with a four-run fifth. Bryce Chance drove in the first run of the inning, and Gehrig Frei followed with a three-run homer to right. The Bulldogs added three more in the sixth behind a two-run single from Chone James and an RBI hit by Reed Stallman. Aidan Teel tacked on a solo homer in the eighth.
Arizona State mounted a late rally with two ninth-inning home runs, but Maddox Miller closed the door. Mississippi State finished with eight runs on seven hits and remained unbeaten on the season.
The Bulldogs will face Virginia Tech at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday. Meanwhile Arizona State will play yet another ranked team in Tennessee at noon ET.

Mississippi State’s pitching staff enters with a 2.61 ERA, totaling 111 strikeouts and 28 walks over 76 innings. The Bulldogs rank among the top 10 nationally in ERA, strikeouts per nine innings and strikeout-to-walk ratio. Opponents are batting just .201 with only two home runs.
Landon Hairston Comes From Baseball Family
Landon Hairston, the sophomore outfielder from Queen City, Arizona comes from quite the baseball family.
His dad Scott played 11 season in the MLB, notably with Arizona and San Diego. His grandfather, great grandfather, and two uncles all played in the MLB.
Landon might be the best yet and could be a possible first round pick in next year's MLB draft.

One of the the top prospects in the 2027 MLB Draft, Landon Hairston, the son of former big leaguer Scott Hairston, turned in a standout freshman season at Arizona State, hitting .333/.441/.467 with 17 extra-base hits and 37 RBIs. A polished left-handed hitter, he combines advanced barrel control with disciplined swing decisions and emerging pull-side power. Hairston projects as a corner outfielder with upside for more game power.
Bulldogs Have An Ace Up Their Sleeves. And He Doesn't Pitch
All-American third baseman Ace Reese is hitting .514 and has 11 extra-base hits among his 18 total knocks. The junior leads the team with eight doubles, three home runs, 15 RBIs and a 1.575 OPS. Graduate outfielder Bryce Chance is a perfect 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts this season.

Ace Reese, a 6-foot-3 third baseman, transferred from Houston to Mississippi State and earned SEC Newcomer of the Year honors in 2025. He hit .352/.422/.718 with 21 home runs and 18 doubles. Reese features a compact left-handed swing with plus raw power, though he can be aggressive at times. He shifted from the outfield to third base and played for Team USA over the summer.
