The second weekend of the College Baseball Showdown, known as the Kubota College Baseball Series Weekend 2 begins today at 4 p.m. EST with Oklahoma State taking on Michigan and ends with No. 2 Arkansas facing No. 4 Oregon State at 8 p.m.

A slimmed down version of the event this week compared to the nine games over three days and six teams that played in the first weekend, known as the Shriners Children's College Showdown, this week features the two highest-ranked teams in the field. It also features four teams picked to finish in the top six of their leagues.

Here are some things to know about Day 1 of the Kubota College Baseball Series Weekend 2. 

Michigan Baseball Leads The Nation In Double Plays Turned

The Wolverines (2-2) turned eight double plays against Western Michigan last week, which was one more than Gonzaga had. That leads the nation. 

Oklahoma State is tied for three in double plays with six in the first weekend. 

Oklahoma State Baseball Is 7-2 All-Time Against Michigan

Michigan and Oklahoma State (2-2) first played in 2015 and are meeting for the second year in a row. The Cowboys beat Michigan in Ann Arbor 5-3 and 8-5 last season. Michigan was 28-28 in 2023, their first under coach Tracy Smith. 

Oklahoma State was 41-20 but was upset in the Stillwater Regional by Oral Roberts (who reached Omaha) and Dallas Baptist.  

Oklahoma State Baseball, Oregon State Played Games On Wednesday

The two OSUs played games on Feb. 21 at Globe Life Field. Oklahoma beat Abilene Christian 8-4 to even its overall record at 2-2 while Oregon State (5-0) started the day with a 10-4 win over No. 19 Texas Tech. 

Only Oregon State is Making Their College Baseball Showdown Debut

Oklahoma State went 1-3 at the Baseball Showdown a year ago in their debut. Michigan also went 1-2 in their College Baseball Showdown in 2022. 

Arkansas (3-1) is making third trip to Arlington and Globe Life Field for the Showdown. The Razorbacks went in 2021 and 2023. Their record is a combined 5-1. They went 3-0 in 2021. 

Oregon State Baseball vs. Arkansas Is A Rematch Of 2018 College World Series Final

Head-to-head wise, Arkansas and Oregon State are 3-3 all-time but they haven't played since June 2018. 

That's when Oregon State beat Arkansas in the finals 2 games to 1 to win Pat Casey's third national championship. Casey retired after the series.

When Is The 2024 MLB Draft?

The actual time and date of the MLB Draft hasn't been announced, but it will take place during 2024 MLB All-Star Week. MLB All-Star festivities kick off on Sunday, July 14, with the main event taking place on Tuesday, July 16.

In 2023, the draft began All-Star week on the Sunday before Tuesday's game between the National League and American League. 

The draft began at 2 p.m. EST in 2023.
