Major League Baseball teams will welcome a new crop of talented players to their organizations this summer at the 2024 MLB Draft. 

This year's draft will be especially intriguing with the pair of Ohio teams selecting at the top of the first round despite entering 2024 with legit division title hopes.

The Cleveland Guardians will draft first and the Cincinnati Reds second as the two teams combined had a .02% chance to land the top-two selections before the December 2023's MLB Draft Lottery.

When Is The 2024 MLB Draft?

The actual time and date of the MLB Draft hasn't been announced, but it will take place during 2024 MLB All-Star Week. MLB All-Star week begins on Sunday, July 14 and the game is on Tuesday, July 16. 

In 2023, the draft began All-Star week on the Sunday before Tuesday's game between the National League and American League. 

The draft began at 2 p.m. in 2023. 

Where Is The 2024 MLB All-Star Game?

The draft will take place in Arlington, Texas, as Globe Life Field hosts the MLB All-Star Game.  

How Many Rounds Is The MLB Draft?

The draft is 20 rounds over three days with Round 1 and 2 on Day 1, 3-10 on Day 2 and the rest on Day 3.

The New York Mets, New York Yankees and the San Diego Padres’ first picks dropped 10 spots because the clubs exceeded the second surcharge threshold of the competitive balance tax by more than $40 million.
