River Rats Pitchers Strikeout 19 Batters In 7 Innings

After Opening Day starter Matt Sparling struck out a pair of batters in the first inning on Monday, the rains came, and the River Rats' season opener against the rival Mavericks was postponed.

When the teams resumed play on Wednesday, Sparling's teammates picked up where he left off, as Tony Rossi, Jarrod Cande and Cooper Omans combined to strike out 17 batters over the game's final six innings.
