2022 Frontier League Power Rankings

Capitales Lead The Way, Miners Make Jump

It doesn’t seem as though the Capitales will be dethroned from the top spot in FloBaseball’s Frontier League power rankings any time soon.

Quebec remains on top for yet another week as they continue to roll through the league, winning 44 of their first 60 games and emerging as the clear favorite for the championship.

1) Quebec (44-16) (Last Week: 1)

Quebec had a 12-game winning streak snapped with a 5-2 loss to Schaumburg on Friday night, but recovered quickly to take the last two games of the series. They continue the season on Tuesday against Lake Erie at home, where they’ve posted an extraordinary 26-4 mark.

2) Washington (38-22) (Last Week: 4)

The Wild Things have a three-game lead in the West Division after taking two of three this past week, including putting up 28 runs in their first two games against Trois-Rivieres on the road.

3) Ottawa (37-24) (Last Week: 3)

Once neck-and-neck with Quebec in the East, Ottawa has now dropped six of their last eight. They did take two of three against the Crushers last weekend.

4) Evansville (35-25) (Last Week: 5)

Evansville snapped a four-game skid with a big 8-2 win over Sussex County on Sunday, and is only three games back of Washington for the division lead.

5) Sussex (33-27) (Last Week: 10)

The Miners are big movers this week after taking two of three at home against Evansville, bringing them three and a half games back of Ottawa for second place in the division.

6) Joliet (30-30) (Last Week: 14)

Joliet moves up eight spots after dominating the lowly Greys this past weekend, outscoring them by an astounding 45-2 margin over those three games.

7) Schaumburg (31-27) (Last Week: 2)

The Boomers had rattled off five straight wins before losing the final two games of their three-game slate against Quebec this weekend.

8) Trois-Rivieres (31-29) (Last Week: 6)

The Aigles drop two spots this week after a tough weekend against Washington, winning only Sunday’s finale, 4-2.

9) Tri-City (31-29) (Last Week: 13)

A clean sweep for the ValleyCats moves them up four spots this week, a reward for putting up 35 runs in three games against Gateway.

10) New York (31-29) (Last Week: 7)

The Boulders saw their four-game winning streak halted by the lowly Florence Y’alls, with New York dropping the last two games of that series this past weekend.

11) New Jersey (29-30) (Last Week: 9)

The Jackals also saw a big winning streak come to an end this past weekend, unable to take seven in a row after finally being defeated in a blowout loss to Windy City on Sunday.

12) Lake Erie (28-32) (Last Week: 11)

The Crushers dropped two of three to Ottawa this past weekend, only squeaking out an 11-10 win on Saturday night.

13) Florence (24-35) (Last Week: 12)

The Y’alls took two of three on the road against the Boulders this past weekend, but remain hopelessly out of contention in the West—13.5 games back of the Wild Things.

14) Gateway (29-31) (Last Week: 8)

The Grizzlies find themselves in a bit of a freefall after dropping five straight, including a three-game sweep at the hands of Tri-City, who outscored them 35-14 in the series.

15) Windy City (24-35) (Last Week: 15)

Windy City got out of their four-game losing streak with a Sunday victory against the Jackals, putting up 15 runs—the most since a June 10 win in Florence.

16) Empire State (3-57) (Last Week: 16)

Three wins in your first 60 games tends to put you in last place, power rankings included.
