The road to Omaha begins this week in the Coastal Athletic Association as six teams head to Wilmington, N.C., for the 2026 CAA Baseball Championship. With an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament on the line, expect a week full of elite pitching matchups, explosive offenses, and postseason drama as the conference’s best battle it out at Brooks Field.

Defending tournament champion Northeastern returns looking to make another postseason run after capturing the 2025 CAA title, but the Huskies will face a loaded field that includes regular-season champion Campbell, perennial contender UNCW, and dangerous clubs from Charleston, Hofstra, and Monmouth.

No. 1 Campbell Baseball

Campbell enters Wilmington as the top seed after putting together one of the most complete seasons in the CAA. The Camels leaned on consistent pitching, timely offense and veteran leadership throughout conference play to secure the regular-season championship.

The Camels open tournament action Thursday after earning the coveted first-day bye and will look to turn regular-season dominance into the program’s first CAA tournament title since joining the league. Campbell’s lineup has been difficult to navigate all spring, and its depth on the mound gives the Camels a strong advantage in a multi-day tournament setting.

With the pressure of being the No. 1 seed comes heightened expectations, but Campbell has played like the conference’s most balanced team from Opening Day through the final weekend.

No. 2 Northeastern Baseball

Northeastern returns to defend the title after its memorable 2025 CAA Championship run, a postseason push that culminated in the program earning another NCAA Tournament appearance.

The Huskies stumbled in their regular-season finale against Towson but remain one of the most battle-tested teams in the field. Northeastern’s championship pedigree and postseason experience make the Huskies a dangerous matchup regardless of seed.

Last year’s title run showcased the club’s ability to win tight games and thrive under pressure. That experience could prove critical in Wilmington, especially in elimination-game situations where composure matters most.

If Northeastern’s pitching staff can recreate the form it showed during last year’s championship surge, the Huskies are more than capable of repeating.

No. 3 Monmouth Baseball

Monmouth arrives in Wilmington riding momentum after a dramatic walk-off victory over NC A&T to close the regular season.

The Hawks enter as the No. 3 seed but already carry the mindset of a dangerous underdog. Monmouth has played some of its best baseball late in the season and will look to carry that confidence into a first-round showdown with host team UNCW.

The Hawks have embraced close games all year, and their late-season resilience could make them a difficult matchup in elimination scenarios. Teams that enter conference tournaments hot are often the most dangerous, and Monmouth fits that profile perfectly.

No. 4 Charleston Baseball

Charleston enters the tournament after grinding through a competitive CAA schedule to secure the No. 4 seed. The Cougars have shown flashes of high-level play throughout the season and arrive in Wilmington with the type of offensive potential that can shift momentum quickly.

The Cougars will need to navigate a difficult opening matchup, but they possess enough lineup depth to pressure opposing pitching staffs. Charleston has also played well in stretches against upper-tier CAA competition this season, giving the group confidence entering postseason play.

If the Cougars can generate early offense and stay out of the losers' bracket, they could emerge as one of the tournament’s toughest outs.

No. 5 Hofstra Baseball

Hofstra heads into the postseason after a hard-fought regular season that featured several close conference battles down the stretch.

The Pride enters as the No. 5 seed but has the offensive capability to make life difficult for every opponent in the bracket. Hofstra has shown resilience throughout the season and has proven capable of producing late-game rallies and clutch hitting performances.

In conference tournaments, momentum can shift quickly, and Hofstra is the kind of team that can catch fire offensively over a few games. An upset run would not be a surprise if the Pride find consistency on the mound early in the week.

No. 6 UNCW Baseball

Host-school energy always matters in conference tournament baseball, and UNCW will have the advantage of playing at Brooks Field in front of its home crowd.

The Seahawks closed the regular season with a series loss but still earned the No. 6 seed thanks to a strong overall conference resume. UNCW enters the tournament with one of the league’s most dangerous offenses and plenty of postseason experience across the roster.

The Seahawks are also no strangers to championship baseball. UNCW has consistently been one of the CAA’s premier programs and will aim to use home-field familiarity to make another deep run. If the pitching staff settles in early, the Seahawks have the offensive firepower to win the tournament outright.

Who Won The CAA Baseball Championship In 2025?

In 2025, the nationally ranked Northeastern Baseball team took a whopping 24-game winning streak to Charleston, South Carolina, the host city of the 2025 Coastal Athletic Association Baseball Championship. 

The Huskies headlined a six-team field of NCAA Tournament hopefuls, looking to claim a CAA championship en route to the field of college baseball's 64 best squads. 

At the championship, junior Harrison Feinberg homered twice and drove in six, including a game-tying three-run double in the eighth, as top-seeded Northeastern battled past No. 2 UNCW, 9-6, to capture the 2025 CAA Baseball Championship at the Ballpark at Patriots Point.

The Huskies (48-9), who extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 27 games and broke the CAA record for victories in a season (48), earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Baseball Championship. It was the second CAA title for Northeastern and the first since 2021.
