No. 4 Mississippi State Baseball heads to Arlington, Texas, this weekend with a 9-0 record after a dominant 16-3 run-rule victory over Austin Peay on Tuesday at Dudy Noble Field.

The Diamond Dawgs pounded out 16 hits and scored in five of six at-bats to overwhelm the Governors in seven innings. After allowing a run in the first, Mississippi State responded quickly, tying the game in the second before erupting for five runs in the third to take control. The Bulldogs added two runs in the fourth, four in the fifth and three in the sixth to trigger the 10-run rule.

Ace Reese led the offense, going 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and four RBIs. Aidan Teel launched a grand slam, and James Nunnallee added a three-run homer off the bench. Mississippi State finished with seven extra-base hits.

Seven pitchers combined to limit Austin Peay to four hits. Chris Billingsley earned the win with 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief.

Mississippi State opens the Amegy Bank College Baseball Classic on Friday against Arizona State, followed by Virginia Tech and No. 1 UCLA.

Ace Reese, Mississippi State Baseball

Ace Reese, a 6-foot-3 third baseman, transferred from Houston to Mississippi State and earned SEC Newcomer of the Year honors in 2025. He hit .352/.422/.718 with 21 home runs and 18 doubles. Reese features a compact left-handed swing with plus raw power, though he can be aggressive at times. He shifted from the outfield to third base and played for Team USA over the summer.

James Nunnallee, OF, Mississippi State Baseball

James Nunnallee, a former 14th-round pick, transferred to Mississippi State after hitting .296/.407/.401 with more walks than strikeouts at Virginia. Duke Stone, RHP, Mississippi State Baseball

Duke Stone, a 6-foot-5 right-hander at Mississippi State, impressed in the Cape Cod League with a 3.33 ERA and 35-to-6 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 27 innings. Ryan McPherson, RHP, Mississippi State Baseball
