K-State Capitalizes On Huge Bats To Secure 5-3 Victory Over Nebraska

The 2026 College Baseball Series is still going strong. In the night-cap, Kansas State will take on Nebraska. Here is the live action from Globe Life!

The 2026 College Baseball Series is still going strong! As action concludes on day two of the second weekend, it is K-State who picks up a much needed win over Nebraska. 

All signs would point to the Wildcats who jumped ahead early in the top of the second. K-State would hold on to a 1-0 lead until the top of the third whenNebraska would jump up 2-1. 

The Huskers would tack on another run to make it a two score game in the bottom of the fifth. The Wildcats would battle back late in the sixth to tie it up at three. 

K-State would take their own two run lead in the top of the eighth thanks to a sac fly from Dee Kennedy and Carlo Vasquez's fourth RBI of the night. 

The Wildcats would rely on dominant pitching to secure the victory. 

K-State will take on Michigan in the final day of action from weekend two of the College Baseball Series.

Bottom of 9th | Nebraska Batting

A quick three-up/three-down sealed the deal for K-State. Nebraska batters popped up, flew out and striked out to retire the side and secure the Wildcat victory! 

Top of 9th | K-State Batting

The Wildcats were able to get some men on the path, but were unable to push them around. We head to the bottom of the ninth with Nebraska's final three outs on the line. 

Bottom of 8th | Nebraska Batting

A quick three up and three down will leave the Huskers to their final three outs to try and claw their way back in to this one. To the ninth inning we go!

The K-State Wildcats are back on top in true RBI fashion! Dee Kennedy kicked things off with a sac-fly to push run No. 4 over the plate. 

Carlos Vasquez would pick up his fourth RBI to plate run number five! 

Bottom of 7th | Nebraska Batting

We hope you enjoyed your stretch! This bottom half of seven was slightly uneventful with a single that gets a runner on the path. A stolen base will be all that comes from it though as Liggett gets strikeouts and groundouts to retire the side. To the eighth it goes!

Quick work up in the air for the Nebraska defense as all three K-State batters either flew out of popped out to a baseman. 

Still tied up at three and it moves to the seventh. Get ready fro stretch time!

It is still deadlocked at three as we head through the bottom of the sixth inning. A ground out, a fly out and Liggett's first K of the day pushes this one to the seventh! 

Vasquez Loves His RBIs

The Wildcats have tied it up! Batters got on the path with a hit and two walks, but Carlos Vasquez is the hero once again. 

Vasquez with another RBI single drives in another pair of runs for K-State. It's all tied at three heading into the bottom of six.  

Defensive Chaos = Runs!

The Huskers have extended their lead! A little bit of defensive chaos lets the runner score for Nebraska. Runners are still on the path as K-State has a pitching change. All runner advance on a wild pitch, but a fly-out ends the side.

The top of the inning shows that Jasa is still going strong from the mound. Two strikeouts to bring his total to seven on the evening. A pop out ends the inning.

Quick work of the batsmen for the K-State defense. Two fly-outs and a strike out make the side easy. To The fifth we go!

A leadoff strikeout puts one out on the board for the Wildcats. A batter does make it on to the path but an inning ending double play clears the bags and the side for the Husker defense.

The Huskers get on the board. Joshua Overbeek drives in the two-RBI double after runners found their way on the path with a single and a double earlier in the inning.

The Wildcats got some runners on the path early but a sac bunt and two line outs end the side for the Wildcats. It moves to the bottom of three at Globe Life!

A strikeout, groundout and fly-out are the stories in the bottom half of the frame and Donte Lewis is cooking from the mound. 

K-State still hold the 1-0 lead.

The Wildcats get on the board first! Dee Kennedy is walked and is later brought home after swiping second. Kennedy will touch home plate after an RBI single from Carlos Vasquez.

Runners get on the path early for the Huskers but they are quickly sent back to their dugout as Donte Lewis picks up three straight strikeouts to escape the jam.

A quick top half of the opening frame as Jasa picks up two quick strikeouts to send it to the bottom half of one.
