Week 5 of the NCAA football season is right around the corner. The LSC is in full swing as No.9-ranked UT Permian Basin travels to take on No.5-ranked Angelo State on Oct. 4.

In this top-ten matchup, both teams enter the contest undefeated on the 2025 season. Being undefeated is not an easy feat and truly is a team effort. From quarterback duos, receivers and running backs on the move and defensive players who keep the opposing offense on their toes, there are so many notable players to mention for both the Falcons and the Rams.

So, here are five of the top players to watch out for in the matchup on Oct. 4.

The ASU QB Duo: Braeden Fuller & Kaden Smith

To kick things off, fans get a two-for-one deal in these Angelo State players to watch. The Rams are 4-0 on the season and average 161.5 passing yards a game for a very good reason. Junior quarterback Braeden Fuller and redshirt sophomore quarterback Kaeden Smith sit at the helm of the ASU offense.

Fuller currently sits with a 65% pass completion rate averaging 128.5 yards per game through the air. The Rams quarterback also averages roughly ten rushing yards per game.

Smith currently comes in with a 48.08% pass completion rate averaging 95 yards a game through the air. The second half of the ASU quarterback duo averages 38.75 yards a game on the ground and currently has one rushing touchdown on his stat sheet.

With both quarterbacks for Angelo State potentially seeing the field, the Falcons will have their hands full through the air for the Rams.

The UTPB QB: Kanon Gibson

Angelo State isn't the only school with a quarterback who can do it all. The Falcons have their own offensive weapon in junior quarterback Kanon Gibson.

The Falcons average 319.25 through the air. Gibson currently sits at a 65.52% pass completion rate averaging 212 yards per game through the air.

The Falcons quarterback also has two rushing touchdowns on the season and averages 48.25 yards a game on the ground. The Rams defense will have to be ready for anything with how versatile Gibson is. Gibson is currently fifth in passing in the LSC and ninth in rushing.

The Dish on Dischler: ASU Running Back Cameron Dischler

Every good quarterback needs and equally good running back and redshirt sophomore Cameron Dischler fits the bill perfectly for the Rams.

Dischler currently leads the Rams in rushing with 199 yards on 53 carries for the 2025 season. The running back averages 49.75 yards a game and has three rushing touchdowns. Dischler is currently seventh in the LSC in rushing and 19th in scoring.

The UTPB Linebacker: Tristan Exline

They always say "Defense wins championships," and if that statement is true junior Tristan Exline is on his way to one in the early 2025 campaign.

The linebacker has tallied 20 solo tackles and 13 assists on the season. Exline also has three sacks and six and a half tackles for loss. The Falcon also has one interception on his stat sheet.

Exline currently is fourth in the conference in tackles, first in tackles for loss, and fourth in sacks.

The ASU Defensive Lineman: Owen Seaver

Rounding out the five players you have to know in this top-ten matchup, is graduate defensive linemen Owen Seaver for the Rams.

Seaver currently has 11 solo tackles, five assists, four and a half tackles for loss, thre and a half sacks and one fumble recovery.

The defensive lineman is currently third in the conference in tackles for loss, second in sacks and tenth in fumbles recovered.
