The Ogden Raptors and Glacier Range Riders find themselves on opposite sides of the Pioneer League standings early into the 2024 season, but a head-to-head showdown can turn things around quickly.

Ogden visits Kalispell for a six-game set with the Raptors looking to build on the positive finish to their series with Missoula. They closed the matchup with the Paddleheads with a 7-4 win on June 2, the Raptors' first win since deluging Northern Colorado 16-6 on May 26.

Jack Cone's 4-for-4, three-RBI performance headlined Ogden's win over Missoula, while starting pitcher Rafael Vazquez worked six strong innings. Vazquez struck out nine on the way to his first win of the 2024 campaign.

Glacier, meanwhile, opens the series on a three-game winning streak after taking 19-4, 8-5 and 8-6 decisions to close out the Great Falls Voyagers. The surge helped push the Riders into first-place of the Pioneer League standings.

Third baseman Chrsitian Kirtley drove in runs in all three games, and left fielder John Daly's 4-for-4 performance capped the impressive series for Glacier.

Players to Watch

Ben Fitzgerald, OF, Glacier Range Riders

Through 10 games as of June 2, Ben Fitzgerald is batting at a Herculean pace for Glacier. His .342 average ranks among the Riders' best, just behind John Daly (.351) and Andy Atwood (.382). Fitzgerald sports a sout overall .432 on-base percentage, as well, drawing five walks in his first 38 at-bats — four of which came over the last three games.

Fitzgerald's 15 RBI and four home runs both set the pace for the Riders, as well. He hit his fourth round-tripper of the season in the June 1 win over Great Falls, the highlight of a bounce-back game amid a minor slump of four hitless games after he opened the campaign with 11 knocks in the first five contests.

Nick Ultsch, OF, Ogden Raptors

Nick Ultsch heads into the series with Glacier on a four-game hitting streak, and with hits in 10 of the Raptors' first 12 games overall. He opened the season on a torrid pace with three consecutive two-hit performances, and multiple hits in six of Ogden's first seven.

He matched his season-high with three base hits June 1 against Missoula, a game in which he also delivered his team-leading third home run of the season.

Ultsch is establishing himself as one of Ogden's most dangerous hitters along with Jack Cone, whose .706 slugging percentage leads the Raptors; and Connor Bagnieski, who is slugging .667.
