Nebraska Baseball begins the season against Baylor on College Baseball’s Opening Day on Feb. 16 as part of the season’s first major preseason showcase, the College Baseball Showdown.

The Cornhuskers, the Big Ten representative, joins No. 8 Tennessee, No 22 Texas Tech, reigning Pac-12 Tournament champion Oregon, Oklahoma and Baylor at the first weekend of the three-weekend event.

Nebraska comes to the home of the World Series champion Texas Rangers, Globe Life Field, hoping to start the season off on the right foot.

Or should we say arm?

Returning to the coaching staff is Rob Childress, the former Texas A&M head coach who made his name as the Nebraska pitching coach in the 2000s. As the head coach of the Aggies, Childress twice reached Omaha.

The Cornhuskers will play in the first game of the event against Baylor at noon and face Texas Tech on Feb. 17 and Oklahoma on Feb. 18.
