The 2024 college baseball season is about to have its first pitches on Feb.16 across the country and throwing those first pitches will be players hoping to raise their 2024 MLB Draft profiles and lead their teams to Omaha this summer. 

Wake Forest Baseball will deploy two of the best pitchers in the country in Chase Burns, a Tennessee Baseball transfer, and Josh Hartle, a returning All-American. Both, along with Michael Massey, are a big reason why the Demon Deacons are the preseason No.1 ranked team in the country.

Arkansas Baseball, which heads to the 2024 College Baseball Showdown in Week 2, are led by Hagen Smith, who was 8-2 in 2023. Smith is one of a handful of SEC pitchers that could turn heads in 2024.

And all pitchers, not just SEC pitchers, hope to repeat what Paul Skenes did a year ago. After transferring from Air Force to LSU, Skenes bulldozed college baseball and climbed up the MLB Draft boards. He helped the Tigers win the national championship and was selected No.1 by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Which 2024 College Baseball Pitcher is the Best Prospect?

According to a composite list of Baseball America and MLB Pipeline, Hartle is the top prospect at No. 15. While Florida's Jac Caglianone and Texas A&M's Braden Montgomery could be pitchers at the next level, they have more upside as everyday players.
