Patricia Anumgba, Towson

Anumgba averaged 26.5 points per game on 64.3 percent (18-28) shooting, including 64.7 percent (11-17) from beyond the arc, leading Towson to a 2-0 week. On Friday, the junior guard poured in a career-high 28 points on 58.8 percent (10-17) shooting, knocking down 8-of-13 attempts from three-point range with four rebounds in an 83-53 win over Hampton. Anumgba followed the career effort with a game-high 25 points on Sunday. She shot 72.7 percent (8-11) from the floor, adding three assists and two rebounds as Towson defeated William & Mary, 80-64. Anumgba has scored 20 or more points in three straight games and four times this season.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Taryn Barbot, Charleston

Freshman | G | Floral Park, N.Y. / St. Mary

Barbot continued a torrid stretch with 22.5 points per game for Charleston over the weekend. The freshman guard shot 55.0 percent (11-20) from three-point range and 44.1 percent (15-34) overall, adding 7.0 rebounds per contest. She opened the weekend with 19 points, a season-high nine rebounds, three assists and one steal despite a setback to Stony Brook. On Sunday, Barbot tallied a game-high 26 points, shooting 53.3 percent (8-15) from the floor, including 8-of-13 from beyond the arc with five rebounds in an 83-46 road win over Northeastern. The freshman has reached double figures in 10 consecutive games and has 20 or more six times this winter.

CONFERENCE NOTES:

CONFERENCE RACE HEATS UP: No teams remain unbeaten in CAA play after Campbell defeated Stony Brook in overtime on Sunday. However, the Seawolves remain in sole possession of first place at 5-1, half a game ahead of North Carolina A&T (4-1), who has won four in a row. Following the top two, Charleston, Drexel and William & Mary are in a three-way tie at 4-2, while Monmouth sits at 3-2. Additionally, Towson and Elon are 3-3, as more than half the league is .500 or better in CAA action.

THE WEEK AHEAD:  A light schedule for the week ahead features four games on Friday and seven on Sunday. N.C. A&T puts the longest active winning streak in the league on the line against a pair of in-state foes, visiting Campbell on Friday before hosting Elon on Sunday. In addition, Stony Brook and Drexel look to bounce back from setbacks in a matchup on Long Island on Sunday. Another one to keep your eye on Sunday is W&M hosting Monmouth in a rematch from earlier this season, which the Tribe won 70-66.

CLARK NAMED TO MID-MAJOR POTY WATCH LIST: Stony Brook graduate forward/center Khari Clark was named to the midseason watch list for the 2024 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award by Her Hoop Stats. It marks the fourth consecutive season that a CAA student-athlete has made the midseason watch list.

NOTHING BUT NET: As of Monday, Jan. 22, Stony Brook remained in the top 100 of the NCAA NET Rankings at No. 76. In addition, seven more teams cracked the top 200. Charleston rose to No. 156, its highest this season. Monmouth (165), William & Mary (169) and N.C. A&T (174) followed, rounding out the top five CAA teams. Additionally, Towson (186), Drexel (191) and Delaware (192) remain among the top 200.  

CAA HOOPS IN THE MID-MAJOR TOP 25: Stony Brook was recognized in the latest College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll. The Seawolves remained steady in the ranks at No. 7. Stony Brook has been ranked 10 straight weeks, while at least one conference team has cracked the rankings in every poll this season. 

TEAM NOTES:

Campbell

• Campbell went 1-1 this weekend, falling to UNCW (69-58) before an overtime win versus Stony Brook (75-73). The victory avenged a 30-point defeat to SBU earlier this year.

• Brittany Staves reached double figures in both contests, averaging 17.0 points per game. Staves had a team-high 15 points against UNCW before 19 versus SBU. 

• Against SBU, Christabel Ezumah notched a career-high 28 points with seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks. For the week, she averaged 18.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.

Charleston 

• Charleston split its games over the weekend, falling to Stony Brook (81-71) on Friday before bouncing back with a victory over Northeastern (83-46) on Sunday. 

• Jenna Annecchiarico had back-to-back 20-point efforts, averaging 21.0 points per game. She has 20 or more in six games this season. Additionally, she tallied 12 steals and has two or more in seven straight games. 

• Taryn Barbot contributed 22.5 points per game, with 19 at SBU and 26 against NU. Barbot has reached double figures in 10 consecutive games and 13 this season.

Delaware 

• Delaware dropped back-to-back road contests by less than seven points, falling to William & Mary (78-72) in overtime before a setback against N.C. A&T (65-62). 

• Against W&M, Tara Cousins had a team-high 19 points, reaching double figures for the first time in nearly a month. Cousins has 10 or more points nine times this season. 

• Against N.C. A&T, Grace Sundback tallied a career-best 13 points. The freshman, who entered Sunday with five total made field goals, went 5-of-12 from the floor to pace UD.

Drexel 

• Drexel went 1-1 this weekend, defeating Hofstra (56-38) on Friday before a setback to Monmouth (63-55) on Sunday. 

• Amaris Baker reached double figures in both games, extending her streak with 10 or more points to five games. Baker notched a career-best 21 points against Monmouth after 12 in the victory. 

• In the win, Chloe Hodges paced Drexel with 14 points while setting new career marks with nine rebounds and six steals. She has at least 10 points eight times this season.

Elon 

• Elon won back-to-back close games on the road, defeating Monmouth (65-60) and Hofstra (55-54) over the weekend. The Phoenix is 3-1 in its last four games.  

• Iycez Adams recorded back-to-back double-doubles, averaging 11.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game for Elon. Adams has three straight double-doubles and five this year.

• Maraja Pass scored 12 points in each game, adding 3.5 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. Pass has reached double figures nine times this season. 

Hampton 

• Hampton won its first game this season, defeating UNCW (72-50) on Sunday. It concluded a 1-1 weekend after falling to Towson (83-53) on Friday. 

• Amyah Reaves paced Hampton with 17.0 points per game on 65.2 percent (15-23) shooting. Reaves had a career-high 18 points in the victory after 16 on Friday.

• Jenae Dublin contributed 16.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. She has reached double figures in four straight games, including a career-best 21 points versus UNCW.

Hofstra 

• Hofstra went 0-2 this weekend, falling to Drexel (56-38) Friday on the road before coming up just short against Elon (55-54) at home on Sunday.

• On Sunday, Emma Von Essen tallied a game-high 23 points, shooting 6-of-13 from beyond the arc. It marks her second 20-point performance this season. 

• On Friday, Zyheima Swint had 11 points and eight rebounds to lead Hofstra in both categories. Swint notched her sixth game in double figures this year. 

Monmouth 

• Monmouth went 1-1 over the weekend, falling to Elon (65-60) on Friday before bouncing back against Drexel (63-55) on Sunday. The Hawks improve to 8-2 in their last 10 games.

• Ariana Vanderhoop reached double figures in both games, averaging 12.5 points per contest. Vanderhoop has at least 10 points in three straight games and nine this season.

• On Sunday, Jania Hall and Ella Farrelly had 10 points each off the bench. It marks the eighth game in double figures for Hall and a career-high for Farrelly. 

North Carolina A&T

• N.C. A&T erased a 10-point halftime deficit to come from behind and defeated Delaware (65-62) on Sunday. A&T has won four in a row and seven of its last eight. 

• Jordyn Dorsey led the way with a game-high 17 points. The junior guard added six rebounds and three assists in the effort. Dorsey has reached double figures in five straight games and 13 this season.

• D’Mya Tucker and Maleia Bracone joined in double figures with 15 and 14 points, respectively. 

UNCW 

• UNCW went 1-1 over the weekend. The Seahawks won their first CAA contest, defeating Campbell (69-58) on Friday before falling to Hampton (72-50) on Sunday.

• On Friday, Mingaile Urmuleviciute had a career-high 15 points off the bench for UNCW. She went 7-of-8 from the floor in 15 minutes. 

• On Sunday, Sammy Ackles recorded her first-ever double-double. The redshirt freshman tallied a career-high 12 points and matched her career-best with 10 rebounds.

Northeastern 

• Northeastern fell to Charleston (83-46) at home on Sunday. The Huskies were outscored 30-7 in the first quarter and could not overcome the slow start. 

• Deja Bristol led NU, recording her second straight double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. It marks a season-high point total for the senior, who has at least 10 in six straight.

• Derin Erdogan added 13 points with five rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal. Erdogan has reached double figures in 10 consecutive games and 13 this season.

Stony Brook 

• Stony Brook went 1-1, defeating Charleston (81-71) on Friday before falling to Campbell (75-73) in overtime on Sunday. The setback snapped a 10-game winning streak for SBU.

• Khari Clark averaged 20.5 points per game on 72.0 percent (18-25) shooting, including a career-high 28 points on Friday. Clark has reached double figures in 14 games this season, with 20 or more four times.

• Gigi Gonzalez added 13.5 points and 6.5 assists per game. Gonzalez has reached double figures in every game this season and has five or more dimes 11 times. 

Towson 

• Towson went 2-0 over the weekend, defeating Hampton (83-53) and William & Mary (80-64). It snaps a three-game skid for the Tigers, who were 1-5 in the past six games before Friday.\

• Patricia Anumgba averaged 26.5 points per game on 64.3 percent (18-28) shooting. Anumgba has reached 20 points in three straight games after a career-high 28 on Friday and 25 on Sunday.

• Kylie Kornegay-Lucas notched her third double-double this season with 17 points and 10 rebounds against Hampton. She reached double-digit rebounds in both games.

William & Mary

• W&M defeated Delaware (78-72) in overtime on Friday before falling to Towson (80-64) on Sunday. With the win, W&M started CAA play 4-1 for the first time since 1993-94. 

• The Tribe got 20-point efforts from Cassidy Geddes and Bella Nascimento over the weekend. Geddes had a career-high 20 points in the victory, and Nascimento followed with 21 on Sunday.

• Nylah Young reached double figures in both games, averaging 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Young tallied her second double-double (1p, 10r) this year against Delaware.
