Pitchers from the Frontier League had their contracts sold to Major League Baseball clubs as August arrives and the 2023 season nears its stretch run.

Veteran right-handed pitcher Trevor Clifton is leaving the Ottawa Titans, but remaining in an organization in the province of Ontario. The Toronto Blue Jays purchased Clifton's contract, paving the way for the former Chicago Cubs prospect to pitch in MLB. 

Clifton pitched 29 1/3 innings for the Frontier League's Titans, amassed a 3-1 record and struck out 47 batters. After starting the first two games in his time with Ottawa, Clifton moved to the bullpen and flourished.

Meanwhile, J.D. Hammer had his contract sold to the Los Angeles Angels by the Lake Erie Crushers. Hammer, a former MLB reliever with appearances for the Philadelphia Phillies, started in nine games for the Lake Erie Crushers. He exits the Frontier League with a 3-3 record and 3.46 ERA with 46 strikeouts over his 52 innings pitched.
