WEEKLY HONORS

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Madyson Peters, Towson

Junior | Catcher | Chandler, Arizona / Basha  

Peters batted .438 (7-for-16) and posted a .500 on-base percentage, recording a home run and three doubles with eight RBIs, three runs scored and three stolen bases in a 4-1 week for Towson. 

During the weekend series against Charleston, the junior catcher was 5-for-10 at the plate, drove in eight runs and scored three times.

On Sunday, the weekend was highlighted by a game-winning grand slam to secure the series sweep over the Cougars. 

Peters hit safely in all five games last week, extending her hitting streak to six games. 

CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Haley Venturini, Hofstra 

Sophomore | North Scituate, Rhode Island / Scituate  

Venturini went 2-0 in the circle with a 1.07 ERA and 17 strikeouts, leading Hofstra to a weekend sweep over Stony Brook. 

On Saturday, the sophomore right-hander picked up 10 strikeouts in six innings of work, scattering two hits and allowing one earned run in a 9-1 win for the Pride. 

She followed the performance by throwing a complete game with seven strikeouts, allowing one earned run and five hits, as Hofstra won 4-1 in the series finale.  

CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Emily Winburn, Delaware

Senior | Fort Lauderdale, Florida / Chaminade Madonna  

Winburn posted a 2-0 record with a 0.50 ERA, as Delaware earned a weekend sweep over UNCW. 

The senior right-hander tossed back-to-back complete games, totaling 14 innings pitched for the weekend. 

In the series opener, Winburn gave up fit hits and one earned run in a 3-1 win for the Blue Hens. 

On Sunday, she tossed a complete-game shutout, scattering five hits and striking out two to secure a 2-0 win for Delaware and the series sweep.  


ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Alanna Morse, Hofstra

Freshman | Third Base | North Bellmore, New York / Mepham

Morse hits safely in all three games of Hofstra’s weekend sweep over Stony Brook, hitting a team-best .400 (4-for-10) with five RBIs and one run scored. 

The freshman third baseman also drove in at least one run in all three games to collect her team-high five RBIs. 

Morse went 1-for-3 with two RBIs in the series opener and finale. 

She split the performances with a 2-for-4 effort and a run scored in Game 2 of the weekend series. 

CONFERENCE NOTES

BREAK OUT THE BROOMS  

• Five of the nine conference series over the first two weeks of CAA play have resulted in sweeps. Even more impressive, five teams have earned a CAA series sweep. 

Elon and UNCW swept their opening league series two weeks ago, while Delaware, Hofstra and Towson captured series sweeps last weekend. 

ELON WINS BACK-TO-BACK CAA SERIES 

• Two weeks into CAA play, Elon is the lone team to win back-to-back league series. 

The Phoenix opened their conference slate with a sweep over Stony Brook, beginning CAA play 3-0 for the first time since 2016. 

This weekend, Elon won its series against Monmouth, improving to 5-1 in league play.  

UNCW TOPS IN-STATE, POWER FIVE FOE 

• UNCW earned its first win over a Power Five opponent since 2019, defeating North Carolina 6-1 on March 15. It was the first win for the Seahawks against the Tar Heels since 2018 and just the second since 2001. 

Additionally, it marks two straight seasons a CAA team has defeated North Carolina, and the league has had multiple Power Five wins every year since at least 2012. 


TEAM NOTES

Charleston

• Mary-Kathryn Scott hit safely in all four games, batting a team-best .455. Scott totaled five hits, including a 2-for-3 effort with a double and two runs scored against Ohio State. The four-game hitting streak is her longest this spring.

• Caroline Conner tallied a team-high 11 strikeouts, throwing 12 innings for the Cougars. 

Conner has at least five punchouts in three of her past four games.

• Malaka Belser had a team-high five RBIs and scored one run. Besler went 3-for-12 at the plate, hitting safely in all three conference matchups. Her three hits went for extra bases, and her five RBIs also came in league play.

Delaware 

• Emily Winburn went 2-0 in the circle with a 0.50 ERA. The senior right-hander totaled 14 innings, tossing back-to-back complete games, including a shutout in the series finale. 

• Taylor Wroten picked up a win in the circle during game two of the weekend series. Wroten went the distance, scattering four hits over seven innings and allowing just one earned run with three strikeouts. 

• Katie Scheivert led Delaware with a .375 batting average (3-for-8) and posted a .444 on-base percentage. Scheivert totaled three hits, one RBI and a stolen base over the weekend.

Drexel 

• Izzy Alamillo batted .375 (6-16), including 6-for-12 in the weekend CAA series. Alamillo recorded two hits in each game over the weekend and had a team-high three runs. 

The sophomore has six multi-hits efforts this spring.

• Ameryn Humble batted a team-best .417 (5-for-12), and posted a .467 on-base percentage. 

In addition, Humble tallied two RBIs and two runs scored. 

Humble hit safely in the final three games this weekend. 

• Lindsay Nelson (2-7) and Jessica Schable (3-6) picked up wins in the circle. Nelson tallied 10 strikeouts in 14 innings, and Schable recorded seven punchouts in 8.2. 

Elon 

• Claudia Penny continued to pace the Elon lineup, hitting a team-high .545 (6-for-11). Penny had three doubles with a team-best four RBIs and two runs scored. 

She hit safely in the last three games of the week, including two multi-hit efforts.

• Carley Davis hit .364 (4-for-11) and posted a .417 on-base percentage. 

Davis tallied four hits with a team-high three runs scored and one RBI. 

The senior hit safely in all three CAA contests. 

• Isley Duggins went 1-1 in the circle with a team-best 2.74 ERA. Duggins tossed 7.2 innings and picked up two punchouts. 

On Sunday, she threw three innings of scoreless relief to help secure the series win over Monmouth.

Hampton 

• Janae Lyles appeared in her first two games this season, going 3-for-5 at the plate with two doubles, one RBI and a run scored. Lyles was 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and a run scored against Howard.  

• Emily Kepple went 3-for-6 at the plate with one RBI. The fifth-year catcher hit safely in both games and recorded her second multi-hit effort this season.

• Kayla Domon hit safely in both contests, extending her hitting streak to five games. Domon was 2-for-7 at the plate (.286) and drew a walk, posting a .375 on-base percentage.

Hofstra 

• Haley Venturini went 2-0 in the circle with a 1.07 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 13 innings. 

On Saturday, the sophomore right-hander collected 10 Ks in six innings. She had seven strikeouts in a complete-game effort on Sunday. 

• Kasey Collins batted a team-best .417, recording team-highs in hits (five) and runs scored (five). She also drew two walks, posting a .500 on-base percentage and drove in three runs. 

• Alanna Morse went 4-for-10 at the plate, hitting safely in all three games. Morse tallied a team-high five RBIs and scored three runs. 

Morse has a hit and RBI in four straight games.

Monmouth

• Francesca Torraca batted a team-best .500 (4-8) on posted a .556 on-base percentage. 

Torraca hit safely in all three games, tallying four hits, a team-high three runs scored, two stolen bases and one RBI. 

• Abby Warner recorded a team-high four RBIs and added two runs scored. 

Waner hit safely in all three games, going 3-for-12 at the plate. 

She also hit her second home run this spring.

• Billie Kerwood tallied 16 strikeouts in a team-high 10 innings of work. She matched a season-high with 11 punchouts on Sunday. Kerwood posted a 2.80 ERA and did not pick up a decision. 

North Carolina A&T

• Dezianna Patmon batted .533 (8-for-15) to pace the A&T lineup. Patmon tallied eight hits with a team-high five runs scored and one RBI. 

The sophomore infielder had at least two hits in three games.  

• Joey Barkhimer hit safely in the final four games of the week, batting .462 (6-13) throughout. She added two RBIs and one run scored. 

Barkhimer also tallied 10 strikeouts in eight innings pitched. 

• Megan Ellis went 2-0 in the circle, posting a 1.17 ERA with six strikeouts in 12 innings. 

Ellis (3-0) has won her past three decisions with a 1.11 ERA in those starts.

UNCW

• Skylar Stockton batted a team-high .500 (4-8) and posted a .600 on-base percentage. 

Stockton reached safely in all four games, recording four hits, a stolen base and one run scored.

• Morgan Britt led the team with three runs scored and two RBIs. Britt batted .273 (3-11) for the week, including her second multi-hit performance this season, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs against North Carolina.

• Kara Hammock pitched a team-high 10 innings, throwing in three games for the Seahawks. 

She posted a 1.40 ERA with nine strikeouts, despite an 0-1 record. 

Stony Brook 

• Catherine Anne Kupinski batted a team-high .500 (6-12), posting a .571 on-base percentage. She paced Stony Brook with four runs scored and added two RBIs. 

In addition, Kupinski tallied her first two multi-hit games this year.

• Alicia Orosco recorded a team-best seven hits, batting .389 for the week. Orosco tallied a team-high three RBIs and two runs scored. 

She hit safely in four games, including two multi-hit efforts.

• Ashton Melaas tossed a team-high 19.2 innings with a 1.07 ERA. Melaas added nine strikeouts and held the opposition to a .178 batting average despite going 1-2 in the circle.

Towson 

• Madyson Peters batted .438 (7-16) and posted a .500 on-base percentage, recording a home run and three doubles with eight RBIs, three runs scored, and three stolen bases. 

She hit safely in all five games last week, extending her hitting streak to six games. 

• Cori Jones hit .353 (6-17) and scored a team-high five runs. Jones hit safely in all five games, extending her hitting streak to six straight. 

Jones has at least one base knock in 12 of the past 13 games.

• Mackenzie Lake batted .357 (5-for-14) and posted a .471on-base percentage. Lake scored four runs, drove in another and stole one base. 

She recorded a hit in four of five games and has hit safely in 17-of-21 games this season.
