WEEKLY HONORS

PLAYER OF THE WEEK 

Keishana Washington, Drexel 

Graduate | Guard | Pickering, Ontario / Durham Prep  

Washington averaged 28.5 points per game on 51.1% shooting (23-45) to lead Drexel to a 2-0 week in conference play. 

On Friday, the graduate guard scored 30 points, shooting 50% (13-26) from the floor, with four rebounds, two assists and one steal in a 73-57 win over Delaware. It marks her seventh 30-point performance this season. 

On Sunday, she tallied a game-high 27 points on 52.6% shooting (10-19), adding five rebounds and three assists, as Drexel defeated Stony Brook 81-64. 

With her performance against the Seawolves, Washington moved into second place on Drexel’s all-time scoring list. 

Additionally, she has scored 20 or more points in 12 games this season and ranks second in the NCAA with 27.5 points per game.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK 

Raven Preston, Elon

Freshman | Guard | Greensboro, North Carolina / Southeast Guilford

Preston averaged 17 points per game, shooting 51.7% (14-27) from the floor, with 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals per contest last week for the Phoenix. 

The freshman guard scored a game-high 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting, with eight rebounds and a career-high six steals, despite a setback against Hofstra on Friday. 

The six steals were the most by an Elon freshman since 2009 and helped the Phoenix surrender a season-low 46 points. 

Preston followed the performance with 15 points and a game-high nine rebounds against Monmouth on Sunday. 

With the performances, Preston has reached double figures in three of her first four CAA games and leads all first-year players with 13.2 points per game this season.

CONFERENCE NOTES

TAKES TWO TO TANGO: Two teams survived the second weekend of conference play unbeaten, as Drexel and North Carolina A&T emerged as the final two teams undefeated in league play. 

The Dragons improved to 4-0 in CAA play with a pair of home wins over the defending CAA champion Delaware and previously unbeaten Stony Brook. 

Subsequently, the Aggies earned back-to-back road wins over Monmouth and Hofstra, improving to 3-0 in conference road games, while the rest of the league is a combined 5-15 as the visitor in league play. 

NOTHING BUT NET: Five CAA teams reached their highest NCAA NET ranking of the season this week, as six teams were inside the top 200. 

Drexel rose to 94, becoming the first conference team to crack the top 100 this season. Delaware was number 155, followed by Northeastern at 157, Stony Brook at 178, North Carolina A&T at 190 and Towson at 195. The latter four reached their best ranks this season. 

DREXEL RECEIVES VOTES IN COACHES POLL: Drexel has started to gain recognition at a national level, receiving votes in the last edition of the USA Today/WBCA Top 25 poll. 

The Dragons are a league-best 12-3 and are currently on a seven-game winning streak. 

It is the second year in a row Drexel has received votes in the national polls, while the Dragons are the first CAA team to receive votes in the poll this season. 

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK: The four newcomers to the conference have made a statement to begin CAA play, posting a combined record of 12-3. 

North Carolina A&T is unbeaten at 4-0, while Monmouth is 3-1, with its only loss coming to the Aggies. Stony Brook and Hampton also have one conference loss each, sitting at 3-1 and 2-1, respectively. 

CAA IN THE COLLEGE INSIDER MID-MAJOR TOP 25: Two CAA teams were recognized in the latest edition of the College Insider Mid-Major top 25 poll. 

Drexel climbed to No. 8, while Stony Brook received votes for the ninth consecutive week. 

At least two conference teams have been recognized in the poll each week this season. 

30 FOR 30: Drexel has had at least one 30-point scorer in eight games this season, which accounts for more than half of the conference's 14 30-point performances. 

Keishana Washington has seven 30-plus efforts, with the top-3 scoring outputs from any player in the CAA, including a career-high (and program-record) 42 points against Penn State. 

Additionally, Kylie Lavelle tallied a Drexel freshman record with a season-best 31 points in her second career game.

TEAM NOTES

Charleston 

• Charleston dropped a pair of road conference games, falling to Hampton (56-50) on Friday and William & Mary (81-67) on Sunday. The Cougars fall to 2-6 away from TD Arena this season. 

• Jada Logan averaged 13.5 points and seven rebounds per game for the Cougars. 

Logan recorded her second double-double this season with 10 points and 11 rebounds against Hampton, before scoring a team-high 17 at William & Mary. 

She has reached double figures in four of the past five games and 12 times this season.

• Anika McGarity paced Charleston with 15 points on Friday and knocked down five 3-pointers in the game. She added a pair of 3-point makes on Sunday, totaling seven points. 

McGarity, who ranks second in the CAA in 3-pointers per game (three), has multiple 3s in 11 games this season.  

• Two Cougar freshmen reached double figures over the weekend. 

Naylee Cortes had her best performance this season, scoring a career-high 11 points on 5-of-5 shooting against Hampton. Jazmyn Stone added 15 points against William & Mary for her eighth double-digit scoring output this year. 

Delaware

• Delaware fell in its second straight contest, dropping a 73-57 decision at Drexel on Friday. 

The Blue Hens turned it over 21 times, leading to 17 points for the Dragons. Ten turnovers came in the first quarter, allowing Drexel to build a 19-9 lead. 

• Michelle Ojo was one point shy of her career-high, pacing Delaware with 14 points. Ojo went 7-of-10 from the field and matched a team-high with six rebounds. It is her second game in double figures this season and first since a personal best of 15 points on Nov. 15. The seven made field goals are a career-best for the sophomore guard. 

• Klarke Sconiers reached double figures for the third straight game, adding 11 points in the effort. She shot 5-of-7 from the floor with three rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal. 

Sconiers has had 10 or more points nine times this season, and it is the second time she has done so in three straight games. 

• Rebecca Demeke made her season and Blue Hen debut against Drexel. She contributed eight points in 21 minutes off the bench and went 2-for-3 from behind the arc. 

Drexel 

• Drexel extended its winning streak to seven games, improving to 4-0 in league play after a pair of victories. The Dragons defeated Delaware (73-57) on Friday and Stony Brook (81-64) on Sunday. 

• Keishana Washington averaged 28.5 points per game on 51.1% shooting. 

The graduate guard scored 30 points on Friday, before 27 on Sunday. 

Washington tied the program record for career 30-point performance and moved into second all-time on Drexel's scoring list. 

Additionally, she extended her double figures scoring streak to 49 games. 

• Maura Hendrixson tallied 12 assists per game, recording 13 against Delaware and 11 versus Stony Brook. She has at least 10 assists in three straight games, while no other player in the CAA has reached double-digits on more than one occasion. 

Hendrixson leads the CAA with 7.7 assists per contest and has five or more in 12 games this season, including six in a row. 

• On Sunday, Tori Hyduke recorded a personal best in a Drexel uniform with 13 points, connecting on 5-of-6 shots from the floor in 16 minutes of action. It was her first double-digit scoring effort since Jan. 17, 2021. 

Elon 

• Elon played a pair of closely contested CAA contests but was unable to notch its first conference win of the season. 

On Friday, the Phoenix fell at Hofstra (46-42). On Sunday, it was a setback against Monmouth (64-56).

• Raven Preston led the Phoenix with 17 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. 

On Friday, she scored a game-high 19 points, with eight rebounds and a career-best six steals. 

On Sunday, Preston added 15 points and nine rebounds. 

Preston has reached double figures eight times this season, including three-of-four in conference play.

• Evonna McGill added 16 points on 8-of-14 shooting against Monmouth, plus five rebounds and two steals. It marks her highest scoring output since Nov. 27, while she has reached double figures in two of the past three games and seven times this year.  

• Lenaejha Evans was the third Elon player to reach double figures last week, contributing 13 points on Sunday. It was her ninth game with 10 or more points this season, which is a team-best for the Phoenix.

Hampton 

• Hampton split a pair of conference games, defeating Charleston (56-50) at home on Friday, before dropping its first CAA contest on the road against Towson (86-47) on Sunday. 

• Madison Buford paced Hampton, averaging 19.5 points per game over the weekend. 

Buford scored a career-high 21 points in the victory, going 5-of-7 from three-point range. She led the team with 18 points on Sunday and added five rebounds against the Tigers. 

Buford extended her streak in double figures to eight games and is averaging 15.5 points per game during that stretch. 

• On Friday, Amyah Reaves added a season-high 10 points and was the second player in double figures for the Lady Pirates. It marks her first double-figure performance this season and third in her career.

• Victoria Mason contributed 7.5 points,  four steals and 3.5 assists per game for Hampton. 

She tallied six steals on Friday and two on Sunday. 

Mason, who leads the CAA with 3.5 steals per game, has recorded multiple steals in all but one game this season and has three or more nine times.  

Hofstra 

• Hofstra went 1-1 over the weekend, including the Pride earning its first CAA victory this season with a win over Elon (46-42) on Friday. On Sunday, Hofstra fell to North Carolina A&T (63-44). 

• Rosi Nicholson paced the Pride with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting and added four steals and four rebounds in the victory. It is Nicholson's sixth game with 10 or more points this season. 

Additionally, she has six games this season with three or more steals. 

• On Friday, Brandy Thomas pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds, while scoring nine points and recording a season-high three blocks. 

Thomas is tied for the league lead with seven double-digit rebounding efforts this season. 

She is third in the conference with 8.7 rebounds per game this season. 

• Against the Aggies, Emma Von Essen led Hofstra with nine points. She went 3-for-5 from behind the arc, adding two rebounds and one assist. 

Von Essen has tallied at least one 3-pointer in four straight games, and it was her second game with at least three makes this season.  

Monmouth 

• Monmouth dropped its first CAA contest of the year against North Carolina A&T (68-52) on Friday but bounced back with a victory over Elon (64-56) on Sunday for a 1-1 weekend. 

• Bri Tinsley contributed 14 points, five assists and 4.5 rebounds per game for the Hawks. 

Tinsley scored a game-high 20 points and added four rebounds and four assists in the victory. 

It marks her third 20-point effort, while she's reached double figures in six of the past seven games and 10 times this season.  

• On Friday, Lucy Thomas led Monmouth in scoring for the second straight game with 14 points. She added a team-high nine rebounds and two steals in 27 minutes off the bench. The performance marks her fifth game with 10 or more points this season. 

• Belle Kranbuhl extended her streak of games with a block to 13 after recording three denials over the weekend. She tallied one against the Aggies and two against Elon. Kranbuhl is tied for the CAA lead with 31 blocks and 2.1 blocks per game this season. 

North Carolina A&T

• North Carolina A&T moved to 4-0 in conference play and extended its winning streak to five games following a 2-0 weekend. The Aggies defeated Monmouth (68-52) on Friday and Hofstra (63-44) on Sunday. 

• Jazmin Harris led the Aggies with 17 points, 8.5 rebounds and three blocks per game over the weekend. 

On Friday, she notched her league-leading sixth double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, adding four blocks defensively. Harris also paced the Aggies on Sunday with 16 points. 

The graduate center has 12 games with 10 or more points, including six straight.

• D'Mya Tucker added 11.5 points and nine rebounds per game for the Aggies. 

Tucker reached double figures in both games and tallied her second double-double this season, with 12 points and 11 rebounds on Sunday. She has 10 or more points in eight games this season. 

• Maleia Bracone recorded 10.5 points, 6.5 assists and three steals per game last week. 

On Friday, she tallied a career-high 10 assists, before contributing 15 points on Sunday. 

Additionally, Bracone has recorded a steal in nine straight games and has three or more in six consecutive. 

UNCW

• UNCW dropped back-to-back conference games, falling to Stony Brook (75-54) on Friday and Northeastern (92-51) on Sunday in a pair of road contests. 

• Carrie Gross averaged 13 points per game for UNCW, including a game-high 18 points against Northeastern. She was 6-for-6 from the free-throw line, with two rebounds, two assists and one steal. 

It marks the ninth time this season Gross has recorded 10 or more points in a game. 

• On Friday, Jayde Gamble paced UNCW for the second straight game, scoring a team-best 14 points. She went 6-of-9 from the floor with three rebounds and one steal. 

Gamble has reached double figures in three of the past four games and seven total this season. 

• Against Stony Brook, Lexi Jackson added 13 points and a game-high eight rebounds. It is the sixth double-figure performance for Jackson this season and was one point shy of her career-high. 

She added two blocks on Sunday, marking her eighth game in the past nine with a blocked shot. 

Northeastern 

• Northeastern won its second straight CAA contest, defeating UNCW 92-51 on Sunday. It marked a season-high in points for the Huskies, who shot a season-best 59.1% (39-66) from the floor and had five players score in double figures. 

• JaMiya Braxton paced Northeastern with 16 points. She went 6-of-7 from the floor, including 4-of-5 from three-point range. It marks a season-high in points and the best scoring total for the grad transfer in a Northeastern uniform.  

• Oralye Kiefer added 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting with three rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 21 minutes off the bench. It is the first double-digit scoring output for the freshman in her career.  

• Halle Idowu added 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting, Jaelyn Batts tallied 10 points on a 5-of-5 day, and Derin Erdogan contributed 11 points to round out the Huskies in double figures. 

It is the 11th double-figure performance for Erdogan this season and the second straight for Idowu, while marking a season-high for Batts.  

Stony Brook 

• Stony Brook went 1-1 over the weekend, defeating UNCW (75-54) on Friday, before suffering its first CAA defeat against Drexel (81-64) on Sunday. 

• Annie Warren paced Stony Brook with 20.5 points per game and knocked down 10 3-pointers, while shooting 40% from behind the arc. She scored a game-high 23 points in the victory and paced the Seawolves with 18 on Sunday. 

Warren has scored in double-digits in each of her last six games and 10 times this season. She has at least 15 points on all 10 occasions. 

• Sherese Pittman reached double figures in both contests, averaging 11.5 points with 6.5 rebounds per game. 

Pittman added 12 points and seven rebounds in the win, before 11 points and six boards in the setback. 

The sophomore has scored in double figures in seven straight games and 12 this season. 

• Kelis Corley recorded a pair of career highs in the victory, tallying 12 points and four steals. 

Corley went 2-for-3 from long range, adding three rebounds and one assist off the bench. It is her second double-figure performance this season and third in her career.

Towson 

• Towson earned its first conference win this season against Hampton (86-47) on Sunday. 

The Tigers scored a season-high 86 points and shot a season-best 51.7% (30-58) from the floor in their largest margin of victory this season. 

• Kylie Kornegay-Lucas paced Towson with 20 points and grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds for her second double-double this season. She also added five assists in the contest. 

It extended her streak to 14 games of registering double figures, while she has 20 or more in four games this season. 

• Quinzia Fulmore added 13 points, going 5-of-5 from the floor, with eight rebounds. 

Fulmore has reached double figures in five of the past six games and has seven total this season. 

• Skye Williams and Anissa Rivera also reached double figures in the victory. The duo scored 12 and 10 points, respectively. 

It marks back-to-back double-digit scoring efforts for the pair and is the sixth double-figure performance for both players this season.  

William & Mary

• William & Mary earned its first conference win this season with an 81-67 victory over Charleston on Sunday. 

The Tribe made 14 3-pointers — a Kaplan Arena record and the second-most in program history — and shot a season-best 54.4% from the floor.

• Riley Casey paced William & Mary with 31 points, shooting 11-of-19 from the floor and 7-of-12 from three to become the first player in program history with 30 or more points three times in a single season. 

The graduate guard has knocked down a 3 in 11 straight games and leads the CAA in 3-point field goal percentage (44.9).

• Sydney Wagner scored 12 points for the third straight game. She knocked down a pair of threes and added four assists, one rebound and one steal. 

Wagner has reached double figures in 11 games this season and has tallied at least two 3-point makes in five straight games. 

• Rebekah Frisby-Smith and Bre Bellamy also reached double figures for the Tribe. 

Frisby-Smith went 4-of-5 from the floor for a career-high 11 points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds. 

Bellamy was 5-of-5 from the field with 11 points and five rebounds.
