WEEKLY HONORS

PLAYER OF THE WEEK 

Keishana Washington, Drexel  

Graduate | Guard | Pickering, Ontario / Durham Prep  

Washington tallied 37 points per game on 56.5% shooting from the floor, with 4.5 assists per contest, leading Drexel to a 2-0 week. 

On Sunday, she dropped a career-high 42 points, setting a Drexel record for points in regulation, as the Dragons defeated Penn State 86-82. 

She shot 13-of-21 (61.9%) from the field, while adding four rebounds, four assists and one steal to lead Drexel to its first Power Five victory since 2016. 

Earlier in the week, Washington recorded a game-high 32 points on 13-of-25 shooting (52%), with five assists and three rebounds, in a win over Dartmouth. 

Washington has scored at least 20 points in five consecutive games, including 30 or more in three straight, and she leads the NCAA with 29.5 points per game.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK 

Raven Preston, Elon

Freshman | Guard | Greensboro, North Carolina / South Guilford 

Preston averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per contest in a pair of games for Elon. 

The freshman guard concluded the week by tallying a season-high 31 points on 11-of-16 shooting (68.8%), with eight rebounds and three steals, despite a two-point setback against Davidson. 

It marks the most points scored by a Phoenix freshman since the 2004-2005 season. 

The performance came after Preston recorded 10 points and 11 rebounds for her second double-double this season, while adding a season-best four assists against Richmond. 

Additionally, she extended her streak of consecutive games in double figures to five.    

CONFERENCE NOTES

DREXEL EARNS POWER FIVE WIN: Drexel defeated Penn State 86-82 in overtime on Sunday to earn its first victory over a Power Five opponent since 2016. 

That season, the Dragons defeated Syracuse and Penn State, and Drexel now is 3-4 all-time against the Nittany Lions. It marks the second victory for the conference over a Big Ten foe this season, marking the most wins for the CAA against the Big Ten since the 2016-2017 season.  

THE TRIPLE EFFECT: Charleston's Jada Logan recorded the league's first triple-double this season with 22 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists against Berry on Dec. 13. It is the second triple-double in Charleston program history and the first since 1991. 

Additionally, it marks the second straight year a CAA player has recorded a triple-double. Towson's Kylie Kornegay-Lucas completed the feat last year. 

CAA IN THE COLLEGE INSIDER MID-MAJOR TOP 25: Two CAA teams were recognized in the latest edition of the College Insider Mid-Major top 25 poll. 

Drexel remained ranked, coming in at No. 15, while Stony Brook received votes for the sixth consecutive week. 

At least two conference teams have been recognized in the poll each week this season. 

NOTHING BUT NET: Drexel and Delaware remained the highest-ranked conference teams in the NCAA NET rankings through Dec. 18, cracking the top 150. 

The Dragons rose to their highest ranking this season at 118, followed by the Blue Hens at 123. 

Stony Brook moved to 199, joining the top 200 as the conference's third-ranked team.  

30 FOR 30: Drexel has had at least one 30-point scorer in seven games this season, which accounts for more than half of the conference's 12 30-point performances. 

Keishana Washington has six 30-plus efforts, with the top-3 scoring outputs from any player in the CAA, including a career-high and program-record 42 points against Penn State. 

Additionally, Kylie Lavelle tallied a record for Drexel freshman with a season-best 31 points in just her second career game.

TOP-TIER WINS: Three CAA teams have picked up wins over opponents ranked in the top 100 of the NCAA NET rankings. 

Delaware handed Illinois its first loss this season at the Daytona Beach Invitational, which is the highest-ranked opponent for the conference, as the Fighting Illini sit 27th. 

Additionally, Towson defeated DePaul (60th) at the Fort Meyers Tip-Off, and Drexel topped Penn State (63th) at home Dec. 18.

HOME SWEET HOME: Home-court advantage has proved to be a factor in the CAA early this season, as league teams have gone 35-18 in their home gyms over the first six weeks of the year. 

Two teams are unbeaten at home, with all 13 having at least one win. 

Eight teams have at least three wins on their home courts, including Charleston, Drexel and Hofstra, with a league-best four victories.  


TEAM NOTES

Charleston 

• Charleston went 1-2 last week, completing its nonconference schedule. The Cougars defeated Berry (84-38) on Monday, before dropping a pair of road contests to Georgia Southern (83-65) and Oregon (97-33). 

• Jada Logan stuffed the stat sheet with 13.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game for the Cougars. She recorded a triple-double in the victory, tallying 22 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists. It is the second triple-double in Charleston program history and the first since 1991. 

• Jaila Roberts reached double figures in two of the three games, pacing Charleston with 20 points against Georgia Southern and adding 18 points versus Berry. 

Roberts has a pair of 20-point performances this season and five games with at least 10 points.

• Anika McGarity reached double figures in the first two games of the week, including a season-high 21 points Monday. She also matched a career-high with six rebounds in the victory. 

On Friday, McGarity contributed 11 points, marking her sixth game in double figures this season. 

Delaware

• Delaware snapped a two-game skid with a 79-67 win over Lehigh on Sunday. Two Blue Hens recorded double-doubles, and four reached double figures scoring, as Delaware outscored the Mountain Hawks 40-21 in the second half to emerge victorious. 

• Klarke Sconiers tallied a career-high 29 points and matched a career-best with 11 rebounds to lead Delaware with her first double-double this season. Sconiers shot 10-of-12 (83.3%) from the floor and went 9-of-13 from the free-throw line, while adding one block in the victory. 

• Makayla Pippin recorded her third double-double of the season, with 14 points and a game-high 13 rebounds Sunday. 

Pippin has at least 10 points in five of her past six games and at least eight rebounds in six straight. 

She leads the CAA with 9.8 rebounds per game this season. 

• Tara Cousins and Jewel Smalls rounded out the Blue Hens in double figures with 15 and 13 points, respectively. It matches a season-high for Cousins, who added seven rebounds, while Smalls knocked down three treys. 

Smalls has at least three 3-pointers in six games this year, and it marks the fourth game with at least 10 points for both players. 

Drexel

• Drexel went 2-0, defeating Dartmouth (64-49) on Tuesday and Penn State (86-82) on Sunday. 

The victory on Sunday marks Drexel's first win over a Power Five opponent since 2016. The Dragons improved to 4-0 at home this season. 

• Keishana Washington paced the Dragons, averaging 37 points per game on 56.5% shooting. 

She tallied a career-high 42 points against Penn State, setting a Drexel program record, after recording a game-high 32 at Dartmouth. 

Additionally, Washington moved into third on Drexel's all-time scoring list and became the first in program history with three straight games of at least 30 points.

• Hetta Saatman had a career day against the Nittany Lions with 14 points and four steals. Saatman was a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor and contributed one block, marking her seventh consecutive game with a denial. 

• Grace O'Neill contributed seven points, 4.5 rebounds and two steals per game throughout the week. 

She has 21 steals in the past seven games (three per game) and eight straight with at least one. 

O'Neill is third in the CAA with 2.4 steals per game and has five games this year with at least three. 

Elon 

• Elon dropped a pair of games against A-10 opponents, falling to Richmond (63-51) on Thursday and Davidson (74-72) on Sunday. 

The Phoenix will face a third straight A-10 foe Tuesday, playing Loyola Chicago in Orlando. 

• Raven Preston averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game to lead Elon. She dropped a career-high 31 points, with eight rebounds, against Davidson, marking the most points by a Phoenix freshman since the 2004-2005 season. 

It came after her second double-double of the year, recording 10 points and 11 rebounds versus Richmond. 

In addition, Preston has scored at least 10 points in five consecutive games. 

• Lenaejha Evans reached double figures in both contests, averaging 13.5 points per game for the week. 

She led Elon with 14 points Tuesday and followed with 13 points Sunday. 

Evans extended her streak of double-figure scoring performances to seven games.

• Two Phoenix players established new career highs.

Freshman Chloe Williams added 10 points versus Richmond, while senior Bria Harmon tallied 13 points against Davidson. 

It was Harmon's second double-figure performance this season and the first of Williams' career. 

Hampton 

• Hampton fell in its return home to James Madison 57-52 on Saturday. 

The Lady Pirates trailed by 12 at the half but battled back to take the lead after the third. 

JMU outscored Hampton 15-9 in the fourth to account for the difference. It marks Hampton's first home game since Nov. 12.  

• Camryn Hill paced Hampton with 22 points, marking her fifth game this season with at least 20. Hill was 7-of-18 from the floor, including 4-of-8 from 3, with four rebounds and one assist. It marks her seventh game in double figures this year.  

• Madison Buford reached double figures for the fourth straight game, adding 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting. Buford converted 3-of-6 tries from beyond the arc while grabbing five rebounds in the effort. 

Buford is averaging 14.5 points per game during the four-game stretch. 

• Victoria Mason contributed five points, five assists, three rebounds and one steal. She has at least one steal in eight games this season and at least four assists in seven. 

Mason leads the CAA in steals per game (3.1) and ranks third in assists per game (4.4). She is the only player in the league top 3 in both categories.  

Hofstra 

• Hofstra defeated Delaware State 59-52 on Sunday to earn its first road victory this season. 

The Pride built a modest 34-30 lead at the half, but a 14-2 run in the third quarter created separation and lifted Hofstra in the contest.  

• Brandy Thomas scored a game-high 17 points and added a team-best 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double this season. Thomas was 6-of-10 from the floor, including 2-for-2 from 3, while tallying two assists. 

The graduate student leads the CAA in double-doubles this season and has at least 10 points in six of the past seven games.

• Zyheima Swint added 14 points for the second straight game and grabbed eight rebounds. 

The junior center was 7-of-10 from the floor, adding one block in the contest. 

Swint has reached double figures in five games this season and has at least one block in five straight.  

• Sorelle Ineza reached double figures for the third straight game, recording 10 points in the victory. Ineza added three assists, two rebounds and one steal in the effort. 

Monmouth 

• Monmouth is looking to get back on track after a week away from the court. The Hawks dropped back-to-back games for the first time this season two weeks ago and will wrap up their nonconference schedule at BYU on Wednesday.  

• Bri Tinsley leads Monmouth on the season with 13.4 points per game and 39 assists (3.9 per game). 

Tinsley is coming off back-to-back games with at least 19 points and has reached double figures in six games this season. 

Additionally, she ranks fifth in the CAA in assists per game, recording four or more on six occasions. 

• Ariana Vanderhoop has reached double-figures in back-to-back games, with all three of her double-digit scoring outputs coming in the past four games. 

Vanderhoop is averaging 12.5 points per game during that span and adding 6.8 rebounds per contest. 

• Belle Kranbuhl leads the Hawks in rebounding (6.9 per game) and blocks (19). 

Kranbuhl has three games with at least 10 rebounds and has at least one block in eight straight contests. 

She ranks second in the CAA with 1.9 blocks per game. 

North Carolina A&T

• North Carolina A&T fell on the road against SEC foe Auburn 79-63 on Thursday night. The Tigers forced the Aggies into 27 turnovers, scoring 29 points off turnovers compared to 16 for North Carolina A&T. 

• D'Mya Tucker led the way for the Aggies, recording team highs with 14 points and eight rebounds. She converted 7-of-8 attempts from the charity stripe and tallied two steals with one assist. It marks her fourth double-digit scoring effort this season and the second straight for Tucker.

• Jordyn Dorsey reached double figures for the third straight game, adding 12 points in the contest. Dorsey went 10-of-11 from the free throw line with six rebounds, two assists and one steal. It marks the fifth game with at least 10 points for Dorsey this season.

• Jazmin Harris added nine points, seven rebounds and two blocks in 23 minutes off the bench for the Aggies. Harris went 3-of-4 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the charity stripe in the setback. 

UNCW

• UNCW fell to Coastal Carolina 69-53 on Sunday, dropping its third straight contest. 

The Seahawks led all but 55 seconds of the first two quarters to enter halftime in front, 26-24. Coastal, however, outscored UNCW 44-27 over the final two periods to claim the win.

• Carrie Gross recorded a team-high 17 points to lead the Seahawks. She knocked down 5-of-6 attempts from the free throw line and added three steals in the effort. 

It marks the sixth double-figure performance for Gross this season, and she has scored at least 15 points in all six. 

• Lexi Jackson posted her second consecutive double-double with 13 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. Jackson's first career double-double came last week against North Carolina. She added two blocks and two steals on the defensive end of the court.

It marks her fourth straight game with multiple blocks for the CAA leader at 2.25 per game.

• Jayde Gamble contributed in a variety of ways, adding six points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals. It snaps a two-game stretch without a steal for the sophomore, who ranks fourth in the CAA with 2.3 steals per game. 

Northeastern 

• Northeastern is coming off a win over local rival Harvard two weeks ago. 

The Huskies return to the court after a 15-day layoff against Stonehill to close their nonconference schedule on Tuesday. 

• Derin Erdogan is atop the team with 14.3 points per game this season and has a team-best 37 assists (3.7 per game). 

Erdogan has at least 10 points in eight of 10 games this season, including three in a row. She also has five or more assists in three straight games and at least one steal in nine of the past 10. 

• Gemima Motema has matched a team-high with 14.3 points per game and adds 4.8 rebounds per contest. 

Motema has reached double figures in three straight games and has at least 10 points in nine games this season. 

Additionally, she leads the team with 18 steals, recording at least one in nine of 10 games this season.  

• Halle Idowu leads the Huskies in rebounding, grabbing a team-high 58 for 5.8 per game. 

Idowu has tallied at least 10 rebounds in her past two outings, including a career-high 12 against Holy Cross on Dec. 3.  

Stony Brook 

• Stony Brook won its last time out against St. Francis Brooklyn on Dec. 10. 

After a week off, the Seawolves are back in action Wednesday to close out their nonconference schedule against UMES. 

• Annie Warren leads Stony Brook with 15.4 points per game this year. 

Warren has reached double figures in five games this season, with at least 20 points in four of the five contests. 

She ranks seventh in the CAA in points per game. 

• Sherese Pittman has made an instant impact for the Seawolves with 12.8 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. She has a team-high seven double-figure performances this season and two games with at least 10 rebounds, including one double-double. 

Pittman sits seventh in the conference in rebounds per game this year.  

• Gigi Gonzalez has been all over the court, contributing 11.6 points, four rebounds, a team-best 3.4 assists and a team-high 2.3 steals per game. 

Gonzalez, who ranks fifth in the CAA in steals per game, has two or more steals in nine straight games. 

Towson 

• Towson fell to Memphis 73-71 in heartbreaking fashion, as Memphis won the game on a tip-in at the buzzer. 

Towson jumped out to a 45-29 halftime lead, but Memphis caught fire in the second half, outscoring Towson 44-26 over the final 30 minutes. 

• Kylie Kornegay-Lucas contributed 12 points, five assists, four rebounds, two blocks and one steal in the effort. 

She has reached double figures scoring in all 10 games this season. 

Additionally, Kornegay-Lucas has at least one steal in 10 consecutive games, while recording at least one block in five straight.  

• Quinzia Fulmore added 14 points for the second straight game, matching the career-high she set Sunday. 

Fulmore went 6-of-12 from the floor with five rebounds and one block in the contest. 

It marks the first time in her career she recorded at least 10 points in back-to-back games. 

• Skye Williams matched a team-high with 14 points, shooting 77.8% from the floor, connecting on 7-of-9 shot attempts. Her shooting percentage and made field goals are both season-highs. 

William & Mary

• William & Mary snapped a two-game skid with a 67-57 victory over Longwood on Sunday. 

The Tribe trailed by as many as 11 in the first half but stayed the course and emerged victoriously after a 39-24 second-half effort.  

• Sydney Wagner paced the Tribe with 21 points, adding four rebounds, two assists and two steals in the victory. 

It marks her third 20-point performance this season, and she has reached double figures eight times. 

Wagner ranks sixth in the CAA with 15.7 points per game this season. 

• After a career-high in her previous outing, Caitlin Wingertzahn reached double figures for the second straight game with 14 points against Longwood. She added a career-best eight rebounds with four blocks and two steals in the effort. 

The junior has three games with at least 10 points this season after none in her career prior to the 2022-2023 season.

• Kayla Rolph added a career-best 10 points in the victory. She went 5-for-7 from the field with two rebounds, one assist and one steal in a season-high 32 minutes. 

It marks the first career double-figure performance for the freshman.
