WEEKLY HONORS

PLAYER OF THE WEEK 

Gigi Gonzalez, Stony Brook  

Senior | Guard | Miramar, Florida / Nova  

Gonzalez averaged 20.5 points per game on 51.6% shooting (16-31), with five rebounds and five assists per game in a pair of contests for Stony Brook. 

The senior guard tallied a career-high 28 points, shooting 11-of-19 (57.8%) from the floor, and added three rebounds, three assists and two steals, despite a setback against Columbia. 

In a victory over St. Francis Brooklyn, Gonzalez contributed 13 points with a season-high seven assists and matched a career-high with seven rebounds, adding a pair of steals in the effort.  

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK 

Chaniya Clark, North Carolina A&T

R-Freshman | Center | Fort Myers, Florida / Fort Myers HS 

Clark recorded her second double-double this season, helping North Carolina A&T to a 110-40 win over Johnson & Wales. 

The redshirt freshman center recorded career highs with 13 points and 12 rebounds in 18 minutes of action. 

Clark added a season-best two assists and one block to round out her performance. 

CONFERENCE NOTES

NON-CONFERENCE PARITY: Eleven CAA teams have collected at least four nonconference wins, with six squads recording a league-best five nonconference victories. 

Drexel and North Carolina A&T have five wins, compared to three losses, while Delaware and Towson each have five tallies in the win column and four setbacks. 

Monmouth and Stony Brook also have five wins, maintaining a .500 record. 

Charleston (4-3), Elon (4-3), Hofstra (4-5), Northeastern (4-6) and William & Mary (4-5) make up the teams with four nonconference wins. 

CAA IN THE COLLEGE INSIDER MID-MAJOR TOP 25: Two CAA teams were recognized in the latest edition of the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll. 

Drexel remained ranked, coming in at No. 8, while Stony Brook received votes for the fifth consecutive week. 

At least two conference teams have been recognized in the poll each week this season. 

NOTHING BUT NET: Drexel and Delaware remained the highest-ranked conference teams in the NCAA NET rankings through Dec. 11. Both teams cracked the top 150. The Dragons ranked 128th, followed closely by the Blue Hens at 130. 

HOME SWEET HOME: Home-court advantage has proven to be a factor in the CAA early this season, as league teams have gone 33-15 in their home gyms over the first five weeks.

Four teams are unbeaten at home, with all 13 having at least one win. Eight teams have at least three wins on their home courts, and Hofstra has a league-high four victories.  

SEEING DOUBLE: North Carolina A&T had five players score in double figures for the second time this season in its win over Johnson & Wales. The only other team to accomplish this feat in the conference this season is Delaware in its win over Illinois. 

All three performances came with impressive double-doubles as well. Three Aggies tallied double-doubles in the most recent victory, including Chaniya Clark with career highs of 13 points and 12 rebounds. Jazmin Harris recorded a double-double for the Aggies on both occasions setting her season-high in points (22) against Johnson & Wales and season-high in rebounds (15) versus St. Andrews. 

For the Blue Hens, Makayla Pippen recorded career highs with 18 points and 18 rebounds.

30 FOR 30: Drexel has had at least one 30-point scorer in five games this season, which accounts for more than half of the conference's nine 30-point performances. 

Keishana Washington has four 30-plus efforts, with the top two scoring outputs from any player in the CAA. She scored 34 points in the season opener and netted a season-high 37 this past week. 

Additionally, Kylie Lavelle tallied a Drexel freshman record with a season-best 31 points in just her second career game.  

TOP TIER WINS: Four CAA teams have picked up wins over opponents ranked in the top 150 of the NCAA NET rankings, including a pair of victories over the top 50 teams. 

Delaware handed Illinois its first defeat this season at the Daytona Beach Invitational, which is the highest-ranked opponent for the conference, as the Fighting Illini sit 27th. 

Additionally, Towson defeated DePaul (48th) at the Fort Meyers Tip-Off, Elon topped Old Dominion (110th) on Nov. 22 and Northeastern knocked off local rival Harvard (131st) last week.  


TEAM NOTES

Charleston 

• Charleston has won three games in a row after dropping three of its first four. The Cougars were off last week but return to the court for three games this week. 

Charleston hosts Berry on Tuesday, before a tough road trip to conclude the week, visiting Georgia Southern on Friday and No. 16 Oregon on Sunday.

• Jada Logan is pacing the Cougars with 19.4 points per game, which ranks second in the CAA, while also tallying a team-best seven rebounds per contest. 

Logan has reached double-figures scoring in all seven games this season, including a career-high 33 on Dec.2. 

• Jazmyn Stone has scored at least 20 points in four straight games, becoming the first freshman in program history to compete the feat. 

The span includes a career-high 32 points in her most recent outing, increasing her scoring average to 15.4 points per game.  

• Anika McGarity has notched at least 10 points in three consecutive games and four times this season. 

McGarity is contributing 9.8 points per game this season and leads the CAA in 3-point field goal percentage. She has a team-best 15 3-pointers on 30 attempts this year. 

Delaware 

• Delaware fell to Princeton 62-47 on Sunday to begin a two-game road trip for the Blue Hens. 

The Princeton defense held Delaware to a season-low 31.9 shooting percentage, while forcing the Blue Hens into a season-high 26 turnovers. The Tigers held a 31-11 advantage in points off turnovers.  

• Kharis Idom paced Delaware with a season-high 18 points in her first game off the bench this year. 

Idom shot 6-of-10 from the floor, including 4-of-5 from 3-point range, adding a season-best seven rebounds in the effort. It marks her fifth performance this season with at least 10 points.

• Tara Cousins added eight points for the Blue Hens, connecting on two 3-pointers for her third game this season with multiple three-point field goals. 

Cousins tallied one steal defensively, marking her fifth straight game with a steal. She is averaging 2.0 steals per game during that span.  

• Nakiyah Mays-Prince made her first collegiate start, recording seven points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal. She shot 3-of-4 from the field in 18 minutes of action. 

Drexel 

• Drexel dropped a 60-58 overtime heartbreaker against Yale on Sunday. The Dragons faced an 11-point deficit with 3:24 remaining in regulation, before battling back to force overtime. The Dragons fell on a buzzer-beater in the extra period. 

• Keishana Washington recorded her fourth 30-point performance this season, netting a game-high 33 in the effort. Washington added four rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block in the contest. 

She has scored over 20 points in six games this season and reached double figures in 42 straight. 

• Jasmine Valentine tallied a career-high eight points and posted a season-high 12 rebounds, while recording the first multi-steal game of her career. It marks the first double-digit rebounding effort for Valentine this season and the third in her career. 

• Grace O'Neill continued her streak on the defensive end of the court, recording a game-high four steals. She has 17 steals in the past five games (3.4 per game), including at least two in each game during that span. 

O'Neill has at least one steal in seven games this season and three or more four times. 

Elon 

• Elon has won four of its past five games, after dropping its first two of the season. 

The Phoenix return to the court this week with a pair of games after having last week off. Elon hosts Richmond on Thursday, before traveling to Davidson on Sunday. 

• Raven Preston has reached double figures scoring in three straight games, including a pair of 20-point performances. 

Preston leads Elon in scoring and rebounding this year, averaging 13.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per contest.  

• Lenaejha Evans adds 12 points per game and 3.6 rebounds per contest. She has reached double figures in five consecutive games, and the Phoenix are 4-1 this season when Evans scores at least 10 points. 

• Evonna McGill leads the CAA and ranks eighth in the NCAA in field goal percentage, shooting 67.3% from the floor. 

McGill is averaging 11.8 points and five rebounds per game this season. She has at least 10 points and five rebounds in five of her six games this season. 

Hampton 

• Hampton split a pair of road games, defeating Saint Peter's 66-57, before falling short in a hard-fought contest against Rutgers (76-68). 

The victory over the Peacocks marks Hampton's first road victory this season. 

• Nylah Young paced the Lady Pirates with 22.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. She matched her season-high with 24 points and added nine rebounds in the victory, while tallying a game-high 21 points with six rebounds in the setback. 

It marks three straight games this season with at least 10 points and five rebounds.

• Madison Buford reached double figures in both contests, averaging 14 points per game. She added 16 points off the bench against Saint Peter's, before 12 points in her first start this season. 

Following the week, Buford has reached double figures in three straight games. 

• Against Rutgers, Camryn Hill recorded her fourth 20-point scoring output this season. Hill contributed 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including 4-of-5 from 3-point range. It marks her sixth game with at least 10 points this year.  

Hofstra 

• Hofstra went 1-1 in a pair of one-possession games over the week, defeating Army 56-53, before falling to Loyola (Md.) 62-61 in overtime. 

The win improved Hofstra to 4-0 in Hempstead this season, marking the Pride's best start at home since the 2016-2017 season. 

• Brandy Thomas led Hofstra with 17 points in the victory. Eight came during the Pride's fourth-quarter comeback. She was 6-of-12 from the floor and 2-for-2 from 3, while adding five rebounds and two assists. It marks her sixth game with at least 10 points this season.  

• Sorelle Ineza tallied double figures in both contests, resetting her season-high in back-to-back games. 

Ineza scored 12 points in the victory, before adding 13 points in the setback, marking her second and third double-digit scoring outputs this season. 

• Rosi Nicholson scored a season-high 17 points in the setback. She was a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line to match her career-high. She added six rebounds, three assists and a steal in the effort. 

Monmouth 

• Monmouth dropped a pair of games, falling on the road against La Salle (66-60) and at home versus Dartmouth (71-56). It marks the first time this season the Hawks have dropped back-to-back contests. 

• Bri Tinsley averaged 20 points per game, scoring a game-high 21 points against La Salle, before leading the Hawks with 19 points versus Dartmouth. 

She has two 20-point performances this season and has scored at least 10 points on six occasions. 

• Ariana Vanderhoop reached double-figures in back-to-back games, contributing 13.5 points and five rebounds per game. 

On Wednesday, she tallied 13 points and three rebounds, before 14 points and seven rebounds on Saturday. 

Vanderhoop has scored in double figures three times this season, all coming in the past four games. 

• Belle Kranbuhl recorded a team-high 10 rebounds against Dartmouth, marking her third double-digit rebounding effort this season. She also tallied one block in each contest and has recorded at least one block in eight straight games. 

North Carolina A&T

• North Carolina A&T had five players reach double figures en route to a season-high in points, as the Aggies defeated Johnson & Wales 110-40 on Saturday afternoon. 

It marks the second time North Carolina A&T has eclipsed the century mark this season.

• Maleia Bracone scored a season-high 25 points to lead the Aggies in the victory. 

Bracone shot 9-of-16 from the floor, including 7-of-12 from 3-point range. She added seven rebounds, three assists and one steal in the effort. 

It's her second 20-point performance this season, and she has reached double figures in all eight games.  

• Jazmin Harris added a season-high 22 points and 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the year. It marks the second straight game she has reset her season-best point total, and Harris now has at least 15 points in six games this season. 

• Chaniya Clark and D'Mya Tucker each recorded their second double-double this season. 

Clark tallied career highs with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Tucker had a season-best 16 points and 11 rebounds in the effort. 

UNCW

• UNCW fell to No. 8 North Carolina on the road Wednesday night, dropping a 64-42 decision to the Tar Heels. It is the second straight season UNCW has faced a top-10 opponent.

• Lexi Jackson posted her first career double-double in the contest with 11 points and a career-best 11 rebounds. Jackson added a career-high six blocks in the effort, marking her third straight game with at least three blocks. 

• Jayde Gamble was the second Seahawk in double figures, adding 10 points with a team-best three assists and three rebounds. 

Gamble shot 5-of-7 (71.4%) from the floor, marking her third game this season with a shooting percentage of 66.7 or better and at least 10 points.  

• Micah Hoggatt and Carrie Gross added six points apiece for the Seahawks. 

Hoggatt also grabbed six rebounds in the effort. Both players are averaging over 10 points per game over their last three outings, with 10.3 and 13, respectively. 

Northeastern

• Northeastern shot a season-best 64.4% (29-45) from the floor, including 50% (6-12) from 3-point range, as the Huskies downed local rival Harvard on Monday night. 

• Derin Erdogan paced Northeastern with 21 points, shooting 9-of-13 (69.2%) from the floor. 

Additionally, she matched a career-best with six assists, while contributing three rebounds and one steal.

 It marks her second 20-point performance this season, and she has reached double figures in eight games. 

• Gemima Motema added 15 points, seven rebounds, a career-high five assists and one steal. 

Motema has scored at least 10 points in nine of her 10 games this season, including three in a row.  

• Camille Clement reset her career-high in scoring for the second time in the past three games. 

Clement tallied 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting, adding four rebounds in the effort. 

It is her second double-figure scoring performance this season and second in her career. 

Stony Brook

• Stony Brook went 1-1 over the week against a pair of in-state adversaries, falling to Columbia (84-68) on Wednesday, before topping St. Francis Brooklyn (75-59) on Saturday. 

The win snapped a three-game skid for the Seawolves. 

• Gigi Gonzalez led Stony Brook, averaging 20.5 points, five rebounds and five assists per game. 

Gonzalez poured in a career-high 28 points to lead all scorers against Columbia, before adding 13 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in the victory. 

She has two games with at least 20 points this season and five in double figures.

• Sherese Pittman reached double figures in both games, adding 16 points with five rebounds on Monday and 10 points with eight rebounds on Saturday. 

It marks her sixth and seventh double-digit scoring outings this season. 

• Annie Warren contributed 14.5 points per game across the two. 

Warren scored a game-high 21 points in the victory. 

She has at least 20 points in four games this season and reached double figures in five. 

Towson

• Towson split a pair of games, falling to Princeton (71-54) at home on Monday, before bouncing back to defeat Howard (68-58) on the road Saturday afternoon. 

• Kylie Kornegay-Lucas continued to stuff the stat sheet, averaging 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, three steals and 1.5 blocks per game between the two. 

Kornegay-Lucas led all scorers with 20 points on Monday, before flirting with a triple-double, adding 11 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in the victory. 

She has at least 10 points in all nine games this season.

• Quinzia Fulmore contributed 11.5 points per game and six rebounds per contest, impacting the victory with 14 points and nine rebounds. 

It marks a career-high in points for the sophomore, who has reached double figures on three occasions. 

• Patricia Anumgba and India Johnston each had a double-figure performance off the bench for the Tigers. 

Anumgba tallied a season-high 10 points on Monday, while Johnson added 13 points in Towson's victory. 

It marks the fourth double-figure performance for Johnson this season and the first for Anumgba. 

William & Mary

• William & Mary went 0-2 against a pair of in-state adversaries, falling to Virginia (83-54) on Wednesday and James Madison (75-60) on Sunday at Kaplan Arena.  

• Caitlin Wingertzahn recorded a career-high 18 points and matched her previous career-best with seven rebounds against JMU. 

Wingertzahn went 6-of-9 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line in a career-high 26 minutes. It marks her second double-figure scoring effort this season.

• Riley Casey averaged 10 points, 2.5 assists and two rebounds per game for the Tribe. 

She paced William & Mary with 13 points against Virginia. 

Casey has at least 10 points in seven of nine games this season. 

• Madison McGee matched a career-high with 11 points against Virginia. McGee also set a career-high in made field goals, shooting 5-of-8 from the floor, while adding four rebounds and one assist. 

It marks the third game in double figures for McGee this season. 

The sophomore had zero such performances in her career entering the year.
